has anyone here put a resistor on their mass air flow sensor? if so, have you seen any gain in performance? thanks
my buddy put one in his spec-v and noticed a difference, he idles at like 1200 rpms now.
I guarentee it won't run right. Not sure what the idle RPM does with the performance, but OK...
I throw a MAP sensor low voltage code every so often now, and whenever I do, the car retards the timing 50 degrees and sets the transmission line pressure to 100%.

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!
so you suggest not doing this then?
ok, thanks. oh yea, i plan on buying my intake this week, any suggestions for my next purchase? i dont have anything done to it yet, its an 03' cav.

all depends on what you want to do. just pick something to do next. some go with suspension/lower the car. some go with body kit. all boils down to what you want

im going for the sleeper look, nothing on the outside, all on the inside. so just performance work.
would you guys happen to know about the autotrans interceptor? is it worth the money?

I guarantee it WILL run just fine.....as long as you put the correct resistor in. This is the same idea as what I did to correct the problems with the E-Manage and SAFC units in the Boost forum. Adding a couple tenths of a volt to the MAP sensor will richen the entire fuel map. However, there really isn't a point to doing this unless you have some serious mods. In that case, you'd be better off purchasing an E-Manage or SAFC to have total control over your MAP voltages (and more if you buy an E-Manage).

where can i purchase an E-Manage or SAFC at?
Andrew-
It works for you and I because we have larger injectors and a system to compensate.
Also, I took this as being like the IAT resistor mod, actually putting a resistor in the plug, not across the signal and reference wire. Regardless I still wouldn't do this on an NA vehicle that doesn't need it, or even a turbo car that doesn't.

It's works REGARDLESS of what anybody has! Adding voltage to the map sensor will richen the car's fuel map. Period! There's no argument to disprove that.
I already said that it's pretty much a pointless mod to shift the entire map for fuel compensation. In my case, I did it to correct voltage problems with the E-Manage.....but it does have the effect of richening the entire fuel map regardless. I compensated by shifting the entire map back down with my E-Manage. No harm done.
jp originally said "has anyone here put a resistor on their mass air flow sensor." In our case, we don't have an MAF but a MAP but that's a moot point. He didn't say "replace" the sensor with a resistor.

i think you need to do some research before you go diving right into things. dont want to buy something like an E-Manage system or whatever else and then not using it

That's true. It will richen the fuel map. In most cases though, this is a bad thing.
As mentioned, don't go doing this as a mod in itself. People who know what they're doing can use it to tune the system but in and of itself, you don't want the car running rich. There's some info on this crap here:

thanks guys. i think that im just gonna start off with the intake and do some more research. but if anyone has any suggestions on what i should do next, that would be great. throw some ideas my way.
