NEED A GOOD EXHAUST

Hey,

I need to get dual after market mufflers for my 97 sunfire gt, i was wondering what are the best brand to go with. I don't want it to sound like a rice burner so give me your best opinion. I was going to do rk sport system headers to mufflers but i heard that they blew unless i got a resinator. So what brand will give me both the deep solid sound and performance increase i'm looking for.

feel free to email me

first fill out your vechicle registry... second, what are you hoping to acomplish with getting new muffler(s),

honestly, i'd say to go with a 4-1 header, 2.5" collector, 2.5" cat, 2.5" pipe tapered down to 2.0" pipe before the rear axle.

i have the RKsport 4-2-1 header and 2 1/4 pipe, 2 1/4 high flow cat, and 2 magnaflow mufflers on my 97 gt and i love it. kinda has a rumble to it at idle.
alot of people complain about their magnaflows being raspy, but mine is only a little raspy when its cold out and the engine hasn't warmed up yet.

you can also fix alot of the "raspy problems" with a resonator.

I have a Pacesetter header and 2.25 piping, 2.25 cat, 2.25 18'' res and a magnaflow muffler (the RKSport single cat back) and it sounds good, IMO. Before the res it was rice galore, my buddies still joke with me about it. In all honest I think it sounds pretty darn good. I wouldn't think having a dual muffler would change the sound much if you also had a res.

RK Sport 421 header, wrap it, "hi flow" cat, 2 1/4" (or 2 1/2", whatever) piping, and a universal muffler that looks cool, like a 5zigen Border 304 Max, or a Apexi world sports muffler.

Because not everyone drives cavaliers????? I actually like the sound of a honda whose exhaust has been properly tuned. I'm actually planning on something similar for my car...

He meant replacing the header all the way to the mufflers, not just replacing the header and mufflers. You might have miss understood that part.

Smasco, as far as cat-back, it's better if you buy a complete cat-back setup unless you want one custom made which will probably be more headache for you. Mine is custom only because no companies make a 2 1/2" cat-back setup for the j-body platform. For you I would suggest 2 1/4" unless you are planning to boost or do motor work. The companies I'd suggest is Borla & Magnaflow. I've heard them in person and been in cars with them and they sound good and the performance is good also. In my opinion, they make the best cat-back systems for the j-body platform.

Catalytic converter....Magnaflow

Header, for your 2.4L motor companies mostly make just a 4-1 style header for it. You have choices between Pacesetter, DC Sports and maybe 1 or 2 more companies that I really don't know about.

Good luck on your search.

dont wrap it unless you want to trap moisture and heat inside it and ruin your header

im going to be getting a RK sport 4-2-1 header = 2 1/4 piping = 2 1/4 hi flow cat = resonator ( havnt decided on 1 or 2 yet) = and a Borla muffler
