I tried searching this, but couldn't find the answer i was looking for. I bought a header and high flow cat for my 99 2.4, i'm also thinking of getting a custom 2.25 pipe bent for my car, and at the end a straight through oval exhaust. I'm guessing this will be too loud. I want it loud, but i dont think the cops will like that. Can a Cherry bomb be used as a Resonator? And since its about 2" in and out, and the Pipe is 2.25, could that help build up some backpressure...the backpressure i will most likly loose from the Header and high flow cat.

you can get one is almost any diameter, I have one thats 2.25, and there was another on the shelf that was 2.5 . for good exhaust performance you need glow flow. heres a good article on the subject.

Got proof? i have one sitting in my shop right now that is 2.5" right through, also have used 3" ones and i'll tell you they are that size right through... dunno where ya got that tid bit from but every "cherrybomb" i've used has been the same as the I/O diameter.
