i have seen both on ebay and some other performance sites, a "throttle body spacer" that goes on top of the throttle body, and adds like an extra inch, and brings in the air in a circular motion.
does anyone have this on thier car? can anyone tell me if this is worth the 100$ that everyone seems to be asking?
here is a picture of what im talking about:
the description on the site says:
"Increase Horsepower and Fuel Efficiency by simply bolting on the Helix one-inch spacer beneath the throttle body. The Helix Power Tower is designed and tested to provide a better low-end torque gain to better off-idle performance. The patented intake design manipulates the air entering the engine to better fill the cylinders. The more air entering the cylinder mixed with fuel will better the power output. Complete installation instructions and all necessary hardware are included with the Helix Power Tower."
any opinions?
awwww man, you should have just searched. i don't want to be here when the poop hits the fan.
it seems to me that any product that has the phrase "...by simply adding this" usually is a scam. Getting any sort of reasonable hp or performance never comes simply....
has anyone dyno tested it?
if it wasnt soo expencive i would say buy it for use with Alcohol Injection... but i think Mr. Pute found a better spacer to use.
gee so you can spin the air some more before the fuel is added (WHOOO HOOO).
works on TBI and Carbed motors, due to the fuel delivery point. NOW, on our cars (SPFI and MPFI), the proper way to do it is with an Intake Manifold Spacer (guess that's a good name). where you space off the whole intake manifold to make the air/fuel mix have a longer run.
I saw this kind of spacer (TB spacer) in a JCWhitney today, and it claimed something like 8% increase in HP, just like the Turbonator, fake spinner hubcaps, and Honda Stickers.
All right I payed f or this throtle body spacer and not to say that it showed me a big difference or anything, but I could certainly see a change from when it wasn't on their if you have intake it will make a slight change in the amount of air your engine sucks in. All it does is allow extra air to be pushed into the intake manifold, but if your not pushing it out just as fast then your really not accomplishing anything.
I had one on my 2002 sunfire 2.2L ohv.Could not tell any difference but in mileage but had to remove when I added my new intake Weapon R Secret intake (worth every dollar) but if anyone wants to try th TBS I will sell you one For cheap.
Thanks brooks@megagate.com let me know if interested.
hotbug - Don't forget, the 2.3 and 2.4 can't use a manifold spacer, the injectors are in the head, not in the manifold.

i bought one and installed before i knew they didn't do anything, all it does is give you a nice "turbo whistle." so if you want to spend 100 to make your intake sound kinda like a turbo then get it. ALSO, if you plan on getting nitrous, the spacer is a good bolt-on cuz they come with the hole to put the nozzle in(airraid spacer) rather then having to drill the intake.
I got a one inch tb spacer on my car, didn't notice much of anything exept it makes a cool hissing noise as I increase rpms
basically its junk. it dont do anything
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!

I know, I got's me a 2.3L HO now (HEHE)
Hey Gilles, you heard any news on the 2.3L header for the J yet, I'm lookin, but getting no new info. I think I may just get the 2.4L from pacesetter and weld on the 2.3L flange.
sorry for the off topic, please resume
I didn't heard anything new for the 2.3 header for the J. You should ask Josh
here
he will tell you more about the header. But the price for the 2.3 header is sky high so I would say buy a normal pacesetter header and change the flange for a 2.3 flange. It will be alot cheaper.
No dyno # have been given for the 2.3 header and for 380$, it better help.

that's one of the places I'm looking, that and the quad4forums, I think the pacesetter will flow nicely for the price. thanks
sorry for the thread jack, I'm done.
I have a throttlebody spacer on my 02 ecotec. You cant tell a diff in performace all it does it sound bad ass when you rev it up. CAuse it whines like a turbo etc. Just all the air is getting sucked in. thats it. only reason i got it is because she was only 40$
