Oil Pressure HELLp
Thursday, April 07, 2005 10:49 PM
Trying to install an autometer oil pressure gauge in my 04. Had one in my 96Z and there were no problems, this one on the other hand is giving me nothing but problems.
Has anyone else put an Autometer oil pressure in their Eco, if so what kind of pressures were you seeing. I had it working for a little while then disconneted it because I thought the sender might be bad considering I was reading over 100psi of oil pressure. Is that normal?

you cant use the stock sender. It is a switch that activates at 5 psi and lower to turn on the low oil pressure light. you need to machine a 12-1.75 mm bolt that has a 1/8" npt hole drilled and tapped down the center.

I have the Autometer mech/oil press gauge on mine and yes the Ecotec makes well over 100 psi when you wind the engine up.

I knew about having to machine the fitting into the block, I pretty much had that part figured out, as long as I know that over 100 psi of oil poressure is normal that was pretty much all I needed. Thanks
