MY dyno numbers are in
Thursday, April 07, 2005 9:15 AM
Well it was a fun day at the dyno the guys were pretty cool so they let me and my friend have as many dyno runs as we wanted till there boss got in for 80 dollars so i got about 8 runs in but most were wasted with them trying to figure out when to start the test and not make my car try and down shift into a lower gear I got videos of every thing but my boy is in the process of editing it. Well here we go.......

This run was done in third gear like the a lot of the others but my car hits the 107 limiter before it can hit peak hp so the guy said lets do a second gear run which is this one

The guy said that even though the run isn't under the same amount of load as the third gears pulls only my Torque numbers should really be off not my HP.
Also the runs were started at such an high rpm because any lower than that my car would down shift into a lower gear first you can see it when it happens in my vids. The guys there took a look at my motor and said the random cyl misfire is robbing me of some horse power and my motor is rocking way to much. How much? who knows i took vids of the motor too so that you guys can see how it is but I'll get thoses up later when my friend gives it to me. Well so what do you guys think? Are those numbers about right to high to low? Any comments or anything is welcome

oh yeah im scared about my timing because its gotten really rough at idle but i dont have anymore money to go get it fixed and gm wants 100 bucks just to look at it even though i told them its my timing. And i dont want to take it back to the guys who put in the cam because if they couldn't get it right the first time who sayd they'll get it right on the second try. I don't know what to do anymore.

thats a short ass run

It's normal that your Torque number is lower. First run you made peak torque at 4000 and the second run he start the dyno at 4750. how can he get good ready. Do they know how it work?

Plus the second sheet is false. You DON'T have peak power at 6500 unless you have Ho or W41 cams.

How are you hitting 6500+ RPM's?

well on that second sheet not trying to say its all to accurate at all since first of all it was done in 2nd gear but on my first sheet i was still making power but since i hit my limiter while in third gear theres no real way to see how much power i would make up to red-line. So on that second sheet you can disregard it but that second gear pull was requested by me so don't go bashing the guys on it. i did several runs in third and for @!#$s and giggles i did one in second. I wanted to see what you guys say about it if its to inaccurate that cool. All i can say is sucks to have an automatic on the dyno when i get the video up you'll see how they try to ease from second into third to start the pull but my car will always down shift then @!#$ up my Torque numbers on a lot of pulls. And shifted if it doesn't hurt my car I'll leave it in second and video tape my tac to see how far it goes before that horrible fuel cut thing happens I could have sworn that I've seen it go past 6500 some times but it would always cut by like 6600 or 6700. But if you say its impossible I'll believe you and everyone else since you and others know more about this stuff then I do.

rev limiter is 6450 on our cars , give or take programing variables

Not bashing, just giving you some help . I ask if the guy knew how it work because when you do a dyno run, it's usully from 3000-3500 to rev limiter.

automatic is hard though, I have seen it rarely done a full run on an automatic

I would understand if my torque was lower but its not its three more than my horsepower and thats only at around 5200 rpms then the limiter hits. Doesn't this motor stock still make power uptill 5500 rpms? And I've got to ask again if the N-body motors and PCMs are suposed to be the same as the J-bodies how are there j-body autos reving to 6200 rpms and highier in third gear before the limiter on a dyno But my N-body has problems even getting to 5500 rpms? I remeber one of the supercharged automatic red cav members saying that on his dyno he got to 6200 rpms but the tech was having problems getting it above that.

still, he can't make peak power at 6500.

Im not trying to say that I would but im trying to get at that there might have been been more power left? My car is still having the random miss fire on all cyl thing right now so maybe. Can you explain to me why you keep saying i couldn't keep making power or your just saying im not gannna see max horse power at 6500? is the ho stats and my cam stats that far off? not sure any one have the numbers on them? or has any one else dynoed with the JBP stage 1's before?

Nice numbers... i'm definately buying those cams.

How your Air/fuel ratio?
Re: MY dyno numbers are in

The JBP satge 1 cam don't have the spec to make power over 6500rpm. The Ho cams make peak power at 6200 and are 212° of duration and .410" of lift.

Even on their "dyno" sheet, the peak power is around 5800. It's almost impossible to make peak power over thatunless you get bigger cams or a really well build engine.

All I'm saying is that the dyno sheet is not accurate. Your cams make peak power around 5800 so you can't get more power after 5800. So 6500 and over is not even possible. If you had some kind of power adder, maybe but not in "stock" form.

The first sheet show peak power at 5200 but the dyno was shut down or you hit the limiter. Even if you're on 2nd gear, the power band will be the same. All I'm saying is that the number may be good but the peak rpm are not for sure. Like the number can be right but it may not be the "best" your engine has.

Ok thats cool thanks for clearing that up. To be honest i really don't' care when I hit peak HP I just care if its possible that my HP could still go higher than what it stopped at at 5200 rps If that makes any sense? cause the guy at the dyno said it was still rising before it got cut. Oh yeah nobody has said if those numbers are high, low or just about right for the mods i have in my registry.

That is simply not true, It may be 6450rpm but I can go way past 6250 if I want too, I know for a fact because I was shifting past that my first time at the track before I realized I was going way out of the power band. Ran a 15.9 before some of my mods and I was shifting at 6400rpm
