i want to get a bigger TB and i have the 2200 motor if i get a bigger one can i put the black box back on or is it not going to fit bc my intake goes into the box i didnt get the one that goes right to the TB.
it fits i put the quad 4 56mm on my 2200 and i have the black box with a vibrant intake. the outside of the tb isnt bigger its the inside. it is just bored out bigger. hope this helps. and you do notice a difference at least i did.
why would you want to keep the black box?
but as the above stated, the TB is the same unit, it just has an overbored center, meaning the outer diameter is the same, only the inner changes.
when i got my intake from vibrant it keeps the box on there and i didnt know that. i dont see any probs with it though
AEM intake gets rid of the black box. I believe that the Induction Dynamics one does as well. AEM makes a high-quality product if you want to throw that on, you won't be disappointed.

i have the intake now but it comes out of the box its a K&N filter on my intake the rest was made. so i can get a bigger TB and keep the black box? i might get another intake if i do then the back box will come off. wut size TB would be a good size one and where can i get them?
Did the 2200 box only come on cavaliers? I have a 97 sunfire and it didnt have one........neither did my girls 96
98 up 2200 motors.the two you mention are 2.2's
I see.......Now i feel funny i always thought the 2.2 and 2200 were the same motor.......
they changed them i think in 2000 to the 2200 they give out the same power i think?just look difforent
I would definatly go with the ported intake manifold also if your going to get the TB. also slap an AEM cai on it, should see some nice gains.
I need all the info for this mod so I can do it later this summer.
