Well not exactly sure where this should go, theres no exhaust forum, so i figured id post here. Anyways last night just after my header install (Pacesetter Ceramic) I took my car out for a nice cruise, car sounds great in my opinion. Im running the header, custom mandrel bent stainless cat back, and an Apexi N1 muffler. Anyways the cops here hate me, this is my third loud exhaust ticket, anyone have any ideas? Besides going back to stock and not driving my car. Is there any type of muffler that will give me a bit less sound, but still sound decent and look fairly stock in appearance? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, this is just getting to be ridiculous
what i went with was weapon -r header, high flow cat, 18'' managpack resonator and a 50series delta flow flowmaster and i think it sounds great and its deep at idle and isnt loud when you get on it. although i forget what it sounds like b/c i have had a blown header gasket for a little while now b/c the exhaust place couldnt put a bolt back on and tighten it down.

if the cops know your car, you have been black balled.make a dramatic difference in the exhaust. put a resonator on (or two) .

get an 18 inch resonator on your exhaust. it will make the exhaust not as loud and it wont affect performance
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Just keep your eye pealed, through it in neutral when you ae around cops. I have gotten 3 or 4 last summer, then I learned. I put in a moroso resonator, cut i down but didnt do much. what size pipes do you have? I have an OBX header, 2.5 inch pipes, moroso resonator, catco high flow cat and a CLA muffler. Loud as hell, but you just gotta watch out.

I agree, my exhaust is a bit loud (rksport single catback, not welded yet so leaks and is louder) but If i see a cop I just back way off the gas lol. Have been lucky enough not to get one yet either. Knock on wood. But since they probably know your car they will just be waiting, so a long resonator is just what ya need. Probably 18"-24" maybe. Then if ya see them just lay off the gas til you are outta sight.

Thanks for the responses guys. In the town i live in i know alot of the cops so they dont bother me, its the damn state troopers who seem to have nothing better to do. Granted one ticket last summer was of my ignorance, I revved it up right next to a cop
oops. I have the apexi N1 muffler so its basically a big coffee can, so i think maybe i will look into a magnaflow like on the rksport setup to at least stop them from seeing it. Then ill def look into a resonator, where can i find one of those? My current setup is the pacesetter ceramic header, full 2.25" stainless mandrel bent exhaust and catco cat . I think it sounds great, nice and deep, my engine is also somewhat modified with custom ground cams, larger valves, ported and polished head, ported intake and 62mm TB.
maybe get the liongest resonator money can buy and fit
I have a 29" resonator on my car.

The cops around here think its cool!!!
I do have an 18" resonator though.
resinate it then paint it flat black
Alright, my exhaust is very, very loud. I am mean extremely loud. However, I have noticed that when I put just a tiny bit of pressure on the gas while moving, the exhaust quiets down alot. I don't press hard enough to cause the car to accelerate at all, rather I am just coasting while putting the pressure on the pedal and for whatever reason, it quiets down for the police. Maybe my car is just really smart or something, but it works. At least until I redo the exhaust

I would advise to actually look at the specific law that they are attempting to get you on. Usually they are writing tickets for a muffler system that's louder than stock, which is illegal in my state. Now the funny thing is that technically the muffler isn't making any sound itself unless you put a glass pack on it or like. So I've gotten away with the only exhaust ticket I've received by pointing out that all they're hearing is the modified engine (which is not illegal), and that the muffler doesn't make any noise which I can prove, and that's running on dual flowmasters without a cat, 2 1/2" piping with each from the header... very loud.
Remember... racing a Honda is like competing in the Special Olympics; you may win but you're still retarted.

Before you go and replace the whole exhaust, get a resonator or glass pack muffler. Glass pack are the same thing, except for the fibergass (and sometimes stainless steel) packing in the body. If you wish to stay all S.S. chek into the Magnaflow round body mufflers or you can go with the Thrush Magnum Glasspacks or the Purple Horny by FlowTech. The last two can be had for less than $25 through Summit Racing or Jeg's.
Any glass pack wiil work, just look for the ones with the perferated core , not the louvered, which will restrict the exhaust gas flow. Somthing to watch for on some of the Thrush and other glass packs is the core diameter, try to find one the has the same diameter as the inlet/outlet diameters, some times the manufacturers use a smaller core, which will reduce the exhaust gas flow.
Also note that the longer the glasspack is the more it will quiet the exhaust. I'm using the Thrush 35" glasspack mounted behind a CatCo Cat with a Dynomax Ultra Flow muffler out back and it's only slightly louder than stock, but is much deeper sounding.
These should get you quiter and keep the cops off your back.
or you can get a decible meter and measure the sound of it see if it meets local law
if it does file harrassment on the cop and thats all she wrote my cous had to go through that same thing he won
