Well I' don't think you guys have a product review section like over at my Aleromod site so i'll post it here if its in the wrong spot can the mods please move it thanks. Hope it helps
Store/Site purchased: Jbodyperformance.com
Cost/Shipping: angry.gif A grip $529 for the cams and a 75 dollar core charge. Oh well
Service: I'm split on this one But not really cause on the one hand theres a guy there named mev who i think was really helpful and answered any questions he even gave me overnight shipping on my order after a mix up to remedy the problem but then there was this other guy who never seemed to helpful it was almost like he didn't care at all. All so Expect up to a two month wait if they have no cores in stock because a lot of people are getting the new cams and keeping there stock ones.
Initial product impressions, quality: Looked good to me the cams were smooth and clean
Instructions, good, bad, none, etc: Hell no i couldn't do this my self
Installation notes, easy, hard, PITA: N/A
If not self installed, cost of installation: Alright Expect to get your wallets ass handed to its self on this one if your ganna pay someone to do it. I had to get a new timing chain and tensioner done anyway and I would advise you get new lifters to if your motor is up the in mileage like mine was so heres the cost break down for me.
Cams and core charge : $604 (OH Hell we got a problem cause I forgot about the refund core charge and i just checked my bank statements and i haven't got it back yet Im about to call them up and I'll get back to you all on this matter. OK so
Cams and core charge : $604
New Celvitte lifters: $275 from Nappa no tax best price you'll find trust me
New water pump: $50 from nappa
NEW timing chain kit: $400 with new timing chain, Gears, tensioner, and cam carrier guides and gaskets. Do not buy this from gm like i did if your gonna change this stuff you can find it all a lot cheaper but on short notice this was my only choice.
New valve cover gaskets : $40 nappa
So my total in parts was: $1369
My Labor total was $525
And the grand total is: $1894
Performance, appearance opinions: Amazing (I Hope) and I only say i hope because the butt dyno and a real dyno never seem to match up so to put my mind at ease im going to the dyno this weekend to get you guys some numbers im a little nervous cause no one wants to spend 2 grand and lose horse power I must say though the car pulls so hard from a roll its crazy my car hops on the cam at around 4000 rpms and just screams. Now I no that the autos get to red line at 6500 rpms and i think the manuals only get to go to 5500 if thats the case these cams might not work out well since you wont be able to stay in there power band. The only trade off thats Ive found is that my low end is gone here now and for ever. The combination of the 56mm TB and the cams I can't even get my tires to break lose anymore off the line which ain't a bad thing but the car doesn't start to wake up till 3500 rpms and up.
Any other thoughts about the product: Now be fore warned these cams make your car lope kinda hard kinda like a mini v8 and we doesn't have motor mounts for our cars i think so im really worried about my header since i have no flex pipe but oh well. Also the longer i let my car sit and idle the lopier it gets till the car throws a knock sensor code. But don't worry you have to let the car sit for a while for this to happen for me like 15 to 20 mins. Well thats it guys I really hope This helps And i know the price seems on the expensive side but I still fell like its money well spent (Unless the dyno tells me different). Over all though I couldn't be happier.
Yikes, nice price tag though... makes me appreciate the secret cams =P Also makes me appreciate having friends who are good at engine work. But, glad to hear you're happy with 'em man.

Well at least now i know I though sorry wasn't trying to spread miss information thats why i said i think. I saw a pic of a cav speedo and i could swear after 5500 there was redlines marked off so i got confused. By any chance do you know if the j-body autos go to red line in third gear because i just came back from scheduling my dyno day for thursday and then guy said they do third gear pulls but i know with my alero while in D doesn't go to redline it shifts at 5500 rpms then goes into 4th do you guys know if I leave it in D3 if it will go all the way to redline or if then im stuck doing a 2nd gear pull on the dyno?
^^^ sorry did not mean to hit post.

If i'm reading this correct you said there are no motor mounts for our cars, but there are. and they are pretty cheap. look into it.
New sig in the works
yeah hes right i have an alero and i thought because we share the same motor that at least one of the mounts would be the same but i was wrong same place but totally different mount so now i have to sell my car custom mounts and deal because i share the mounts with the 3400 series motor
wonder if these ones work, any cel's?
LE61T PTE6262 Powered
nope Every thing is fine so fare ive been going to auto zone to get cels checked one i get when i idle too long like 10 -15 mins but if i tap the gas it goes away for a little then comes back if i keep letting it idle i'll check that one tomm
what year is your alero? you should be able to use atleast the upper motor mount insert, and probably even the lower mount dogbone (im a grand am guy, and i know alot of people that have both of these mounts on their GA's)

thanks for the review
sounds just like the 75$ shipped secert cams i have in my cav.
Well im glad for Jake up there and anyone else who has cams for under a hundred dollars installed and are happy I wish i could have done the same but realistically i wouldn't have been able to install them my self like many others so thats a guaranteed $300 to five hundred right there in labor. To order the secret cams new from auto zone and gm went up to about 406 dollars for the pair so i figured why not just go with the JPB ones for $525 which had slightly different numbers i believe compared to the secret cam numbers. And I don't know i just didn't feel comfortable with the whole secret cam idea I bought the intake one at first then said F it and started over this time with the JPB cams for my own reasons. Also my motor was beat because my tensioner broke some how and my timing chain decided to try and grenade my motor and couldn't run for three months and my water pump crapped out on me. so I had to get all new @!#$ anyway so i thought i would just list every thing I bought and did so anyone else who was thinking about doing the same thing or had to replace similar @!#$ could have a reference. So even if i didn't buy these cams and have them put in i would have been spending almost the same amount of money to get back my car no faster then it already was before it broke and I didn't like the idea of that. Any way someones got to do it right? People wanna know how good or bad something is or if its worth it or not well i provided some information now they can make there own decision off of my experience. You either learn from peoples mistakes or they'll learn from yours thats what i say. Well now for those who care i took out my car and G-teched it tonight even though im sure im gonna hear @!#$ for that. My best stock run plus cold air was a 16.283 at 83 .1 mph and my new best time with all mods listed in my registry is 15.554 at 89.1 mph. With out the shift plus on the highest setting i couldnt pull better then a 15.7 at 88.3. Don't know if you guys consider the G-tech a viable source for info but thats all i have to work with for now till i can get to a track.
wow. just wow at the amount ofd money you spenr. The is nearly enough for a custom turbo kit minus installation
yeah you can pick up the GM supercharger package for that much.

May have to make a trip out there to L.I. and check your ride out.

Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.
Yeah well i was ganna get the super charger but after my car broke most of the money had to go back into just getting it to run like normal so i used my superchager money to fix the car and get the cams while i was fixing it thats the total price you see above. The 300 dollars i have left is going twards a nitrous kit cause i can't go through saving for a super charger again. The only thing i was mad about was having to get new lifters cause i didn't know that the lifters alone was like half of what the cams cost. As for codes there are none Went to auto zone and i only have a rear o2 sensor code cause of my magnaflow cat but nothing else.
glad u got the car fixed up. i hear ya about the secert cams price and the JBP ones. I probably would have done the same thing, while u are in there mine as well replace everything at once the right way as it isnt fun ripping that stuff out again or having something go crazy and causing more damage then good.
I knew a guy who did the cam swap, later that week something with the oil , maybe a leak or something wasnt right and away went #3 rod bearing.
That massive loss in low end torque was exactly why I took my "Hybrid Cams" out... I couldn't deal with waiting to get up to 3000 rpm... I just don't see the point of it on a street car.
I had the same "kick in the junk" at 3500 rpm with the hybrid cams though, it's almost scary how the car keeps accellerating to redline... but the sacrifice on the low end was too much for me so out they went.
A warning to all - when he says your bottom end torque is GONE - he means GONE. if you appreciate flooring the car at 2000 rpm in 3rd and feeling your head snap back, kiss it goodbye. The car becomes gutless before 3500 rpm.
Glad you're happy bud.

Slowly but surely may some day win this race...
so do you think with the gm s/c the hybrid cams would cause as much of a low end loss??? Or would teh s/c make up for that????
