ho intake manifold question
Sunday, April 03, 2005 5:21 PM
i seen it before but couldnt find the post. I went to the junkyard today to find a ho manifold and tb.There were 3 types but they all looked like the LO but wasn't sure. The idi cover just said quad4. the 8th digit engine vin code was d. Is that the right motor? If not could someone tell me what the engine vin code is because I cannot find it in the previous post I read awhile back. thanks

VIN A = HO.

D = LO

Wrong engine.

The vin D could still have the larger HO intake..... you just have to know what your looking at.

run your hand along the bottom...... if its pretty straight all the way to the t/b its a HO, if it has a very noticable bulge towards the t/b end, its an LO. Also, check the back side of the manifold (side facing the engine) the HO will have a "pipe" plug in it, the LO will not.

Yep... the best way to tell is to look at it from underneath. If the whole log area is pretty much the same size all the way to the throttle body connection without a large lump on the way, you have a H/O.

There is a thread in the archives that has the pics of the different kinds. It took me 15 mins of searching to find it. Too bad I didn't bookmark it...
