ecotec engine mount questions
Friday, April 01, 2005 5:09 PM
just wondering what the benefits of having the ecotec engine mount is. from what i understand it's supposed to help stabilize the engine, but i'm not clear on how this free's up horsepower (unless engines really shake alot, i don't know). does it help the durability of the engine or give a noticable different in performance? any comments, suggestions, and advice is welcome. thanx.

wel the upper eco mount is very weak , and even if the car was owned by grama it would still break

and it takes power to move the motor and the motor moving delays the power getting to the ground

it is very worht it to have the mounts , if you got a 5spd get those also

Yes having a auto with mounts is still beneficial. I've had the mounts in my for quite a while now. The vibrations take a little getting used to, but there not that bad. With both the upper and lowed mounts installed the engine maybe moves a quarter inch, compared to the like crazy amount with the stock mounts

worth getting IMO. helps if you get boost. and since the engine wont move in the bay, your header wont get cracked

mounts are probably one of the best cheap mods you can do to the car. i still need to get the top mount for mine...

ecopower... i'm thinking 97cavie24ls meant the poly trans mounts too...

I just installed the upper mount to go along with my lower. I can definitely notice the difference, it just feels stronger now to me.

it might just be all in our heads, but hes right, it seems stronger somehow. i have had mine for awhile too, and it does take getting used to. worth it IMO.

no just put a floor jack under it with a peice of wood to hold it in place and take out the two bolts pull the stock one out put the solid one it and put the bolts back in. You may have to use a rubber hammer to get the new one in and raise or lower the jack to get the bolts to line up. Ive done two of them and it only took me 10 mins each. Very easy mod. I have both and am very happy with them.

97cavie24ls(JDM cav sedan™) - are you saying the stock mount is weak or the solid mount is weak. the upper cause i havent had any problems with my rksport mount yet and just curious if i need to keep a close eye on it. Thanks

Oh and good luck with the install - very easy.

no he's reffering to the stock upper mount, it's garbage... i think QBE broke his stock on like three times before they came out with an aftermarket upper mount
