First of all I have a 99 Z24 cavalier with a GM power crank pulley on it. My A/C compresser went out a couple of monthes ago and it would cost 700 to fix so I want to take the AC stuff off the car. I want to know if there is some way to by pass the AC compressor pulley and just get a smaller belt or can I get some kind of replacement pulley? Thanks
The part number is # 24574519

Would this in a sense give you increased hp, like removing you A/C, wihtout actually removing you A/C?

I actually just finished up with the AC elimination. I didn't see any gains in HP that I could notice but I can say one thing, it sure makes the engine bay look less crowded!
I bypassed the a/c on my 2.2 and noticed a little difference. However, on mine, it was as simple as buying the non-a/c belt.
you may "feel" a difference because you change the belt for a shorter one. Since the 2.4 only change a compressor for a pulley but keep the same belt, it won't do anything other than take off weight.

Like 96 cavituner said it will clean up the look of the engine bay. PLus i am getting turbo soon and the more room the better. Oh and what size belt am i going to need for this conversion or will it be the same as the one I have now??
