Header performance
Thursday, March 31, 2005 8:32 PM
hey guys, i ordered some parts for the exhaust system and i was wondering what kind of gains i would get. I already have the magnaflow cat-back, and i ordered the pacesetter "armor coated" header, a new cat, upper and lower engine mounts, and a weapon r intake. will this setup produce a noticeable horse power gain? also, i heard that you cant instal a tb spacer and an intake (one or the other type of deal) is this true?
I am keeping it NA, so what else will boost the horses? valves?

Thanks for any help!

cams and bigger TB P&P

04 sunfire auto, mid 15's n/a, and still going

you should noticce a difference for what you did.

If you are keeping it n/a and want more power, go into the motor: cams, port and polish, bigger valves, better springs, bore it out, and high compression pistons. It's a lot of work if you do it yourself, but if you want to go fast n/a then you have to do this.

does anyone know how much of Hp it will add?

Jump on the dyno and find out, you live in Maryland. EIP Tuning has a dyno you can jump on when you install all those parts.

You will feel a little bit of a difference when you have all those parts on but the bigger gains are defintely with the cam, p&p, etc.

Have a good one,

You can only pretty much estimate what you think is the HP or you can G-Tech. Also you might consider cutting the HP number in half that most sites advertise as your gain when it comes to intakes and exhaust.

does anyone have a similar setup?

catback

first TB spacer dont do anythinf regarding performance... it's just a scam

Second do a search on the registery and you'll find out that most of peeps here have this setup.... and some other have more than that...

If you want good horse numbers go turbo or nitrous... big NA number are not common(Karo)

A good quote from an other member: Speed cost money, how fast can you afford to go?

You can check my reg on my old Cav for similiar setup. I dyno'd to the wheels a little over 101 whp with 121 lbs/tq when I went to the dyno. I also had a 3 speed automatic and 2.2L OHV.

When I went I had:
-TB
-4-1 Header
-Full Exhaust / 2 1/4" piping
-Intake
-Alt / Crank pullies
-Upper / Lower Motor Mounts

what is the stock whp of a 2200?

are any other mods necessary before a cam? is 15whp average for cams?

also,is a header even worth getting?

I personally think it is worth getting, you can get a nice Pacesetter for a really good price. I ran with their 4-1 Header (helps with more top-end performance) and don't regret getting it at all. You could feel the car pull a little harder when you are going from 45-60.

did you do the install yourself?

yup, didn't take that long actually, a couple cuss words here, a few beers there, a couple broken header bolts somewhere and the header was installed.

I got mine last week... i'm working on it a bit prior to installation. i bought the painted black one tough.

i had to remove all the paint from it and will do a little gasket matching. For the price it'sa pretty good deal. i got mind for 260CAD ant the nearest price for a header was about 700CAD or 900 for a custom made.

i think that if you buy it you should do some work on them to get them right. I even think of ceramic coating ( if i can have the right price ). i will have pics before after next week.

what work has to be done?

also, will it all connect to the stock cat? or do i need the aftermarket one?
