I saw the post about a guy wondering why his mileage was low. I saw it so calm down people. I think my question is different.
I just got like 330 miles to my most recent tank. I dont think that is bad. I was just wondering if there is anything that I can do to improve it? Does the type of gas I get mean anything? Can it improve my mileage if I get premium? What about a air intake? Or a performance filter? like the K&N one? Another idea I had, and a friend called me dumb for this is................smaller injectors? Obviously from this idea you can see i could care less about how fast my car can accelerate!
I was just looking for some ideas on improving my milage.
Thanks in advance

Drive the speed limit. Don't change your injectors, they are sized just right for your motor, you don't want to run lean, although you would get insane gas mileage... hell it wouldn't use any gas... cuz it wouldn't go anywhere

I don't know if you saw this or not, since I don't think a ton of people check the Maintenance Forum alot
sticky in Maintenance
but maybe that will help you some
i shift at 2000 for all gears up to 4th ... and i shif tinto 5th at around 3000
i get the best mileage possible when doing so
Don't use "cheap" gas.. and by that I mean if you have RaceTrac/RaceWay stations in your town, don't get gas from there as there's almost always water in it. If you don't have those exact ones, ask around.. there's a crappy gas station or two in every city. Also, yes, a K&N filter will help a bit. I was averaging about 340 a tank when I first got my 03 Cavy, and once I put my K&N in, I averaged about 390 a tank. Keep up with regular maintainence.. ie: oil changes, tire rotation and balance, air pressure in the tires, and change the air filter if you don't end up going with a K&N. Lastly, make sure to regularly change your fuel filter (every 8000-12000 miles) as that can impact fule mileage quite a bit.
Other things like when you shift (if its a manual) are important.. the higher you rev before shifting, the more gas you burn. If you have a lot of added weight in the car often (ie: a bunch of crap in the trunk and a full car 4-5 passengers), you'll get less mileage than say you and one other person in your car with nothing in the trunk but the spare and jack.
Oh one more thing. Octane boosters are a waste of time and money since buying a tank of premium (93) gas is far cheaper and does the same thing as putting a tank of 87 octane and some prestone booster. If anything, use a bottle of Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner every 3-6 months. Some people say to use it in everytank.. but your car is pretty new, so it shouldn't need it that often at all.
ANyways, hope that helps.

your car is still very tight it will get a bit better with a little time.
see ya!
higher octane gas?
it is harder to ignite so you need more gass
no tornado
get an intake, exhaust, good plugs
anyone who tells you to put higher octane gas in your car is either doesnt know what they are talking about...or is a ricer.
^^^^^ you know I've heard some really good arguements from both sides on that one. Me I personaly don't have a side and I have seen it help out some cars with drivability problems, and not do any thing for others, but I've never seen it make a car run worse.
