Ok so ive seen a couple of the 3.8L SC swaps but im wondering what about talking a GM L36 engine drop it in my cav and instead of supercharge put twin turbo on it. It should fit right? So what do you guys think? has anyone thought of this or looked into it?
Whats up people?
Getting an l36 to fit will be the exact same amount of work as getting an l67 to fit, so why not start off with the forged internals engine?
Also, good luck getting a tt setup to fit in a cavalier bay. People have enough trouble shoehorning the l67.

You could do it. Theres plenty of room front to back, just not side to side. But one turbo is more feasible.
well thing is i would get the L67 but i really dont want to go with the supercharger
I think twin turbo would be sweet
i mean how many people can say they have a 3.8L cavalier with twin turbo ? ? ?
meck - im not sure bout the specs or anything cause at this stage im still dreaming but in a year or two i do want to do a swap and am wondering how much more horse would i get by going with a larger single turbo or two smaller turbos reducing lag???? or would sticking 2 huge turbos on there give me a lot of power??? or like one smaller turbo and one larger one??? havent really researched it much but i do know the engine will fit cause ive seen it done
but yeah any thoughts or ideas welcome

fitting that beast in would be your biggest problem... look up the user raven... and just look at the pictures on his cardomain page and see how little room he has in his engine bay. and its only the 3.8L supercharged engine which would take up much less space.
You would be much better off to go with a single turbo. The problem with two turbo's would be runing the down pipes. The best way would be with a T61 or T66 turbo, you can get close to 700hp with the proper build and tuning done. In addition to the swap you would have to convert the breaks over to a non-abs master and cut about 12 inches out of the firewall and build a tunnel to run the new down pipe. Custom PCM, much larger injectors, etc. Eventually I will be going this route as well. Turbo will get you the best results by far, it actaully takes about 50hp to spin the M90 supercharger in the upper rpm's. I'd say the best thing would be to get the swap done first, then worry about future plans.

^^^^^ thanks for the thoughts raven
Whats up people?
ok so now i have another question if i go through with this which tranny should i use?
Whats up people?
^^^I believe you can use the getrag tranny like raven does
^^^^^^^ part numbers for that tranny? ? ? ?
Whats up people?
Is that the same tranny that comes stock on the J's?
You have three options really.
1. The old getrag 282 from a pre 95 cavalier.
2. The new getrag (F23) from the 2000+ 2.2l j-bodies.
3. Leave it automatic and use the stock tranny that comes with the 3800.
