nopi says they have the 4-2-1 from HP Racing...doesn't look like 4-2-1 in picture, has anyone bought or know if these are the 4-2-1 design?

the top 2

it does look like a 4-1 design, but it could be just a picture the put up there. i have been looking for a 4-2-1 design for the 2200. it seems hard to come by. if you find some let me know

New sig in the works

I have been looking for one as well. The only one i have found is made by Bill's IPerformance. It's a whole header system, from header to cat. Problem is it cost $625.00.

i mean this in the nicest way, but why are you SO concerned with getting a 4-2-1, there is so little improvement, and from what the 2200 starts with to where your headed,, it doesn't really matter, without boost, it is still slow,,,, and bare in mind i have a 2200, auto none the less... just the nature of the beast... to me the main goal of the FULL exhaust, is just to alow it to breathe better in prep for boost. and then your talking about 2900 bucks for a supercharger, or around the same for an intercooled turbo, so not like your going to be able to not spend much on a 2200 and make large gains.... SPEED COSTS, and even more if ya have a 2200

Well that header is a 4-2-1 design, the pic they show is of the 2200 header, and i have the OBX header on mine and its also a 4-2-1 design, got it off ebay for 155 plus shipping, you may be able to still find them on there.

That header seems like a decent deal for 245, as long as they dont rape you on the shipping.

And the 4-2-1 design is the best for the 2200 becasue a 4-1 only helps out with high RPM, and everyone with a 2200 will tell you that the 2200 has no top end and the 4-1 header will kill what low end the 2200 does have. Mine is quick as hell out of the whole since i installed the header and exhaust, and yes even the top end is better.

Id say look for the OBX on Ebay, they list it for 95-97 but it will fit the 98+ no problem, several members on here have used this same header, or buy the HP one, just cost more thats all.

just called nopi...they said it's a listing error on their site and they will be sending me a package to put it in and mail it back there and fedex will come pick it up free of charge...so all is well, looks like i'm going with the obx 4-2-1 you suggested...now are you positive it will fit an 01 2200?

Well thats good that they are letting you send it back.

And yes it fit my 99 2200 which is the same as your 01 2200 so yes im sure.

It wont stay all nice and polished though, it gets blue an orange from the heat, but no b deal to me.

it's a 2200...i doubt i'll be showing off my engine haha, i just want to get a nice gain in low end, i don't care how the thing looks. how'd it make your exhaust sound?

Re: 2200 4-2-1
Wednesday, April 06, 2005 1:05 PM
well as far as sound oes, i cant really say becasue i removed all of the stock stuff at the same time and installed the header and redid the whole exhaust, i used an O2 sim and deleted the cat, put a thrush glasspack with perforated core in place of the stock resonator, and then a Dynomax Ultra flow welded muffler, all 2.25 from the header downpipe back, i beileve th header downpipe was a 2.5.

Once i get my turbo engine built and installed ill be selling my header and downpipe along with a few other things on my car. Keep an eye on the classified section.

Yup thats the same one i have. Its a bit of a tight fit to get it up on the studs, but once there it fits like a glove. You will have to rmove the Alt, and mouting bracket and i think i had to remove the dipstick tube also and undid the heater hose connection at the t-stat housing. Overall not a bad install.

sorry but i hate my obx 4-2-1 header on my 2002 2200, so im installing my new obx 4-1 later this week. its a bad fit becasue it sitd right on a coolant line in the front of the motor and the down pipe did not fit at all so i made a custom one. i rode in a friends 2200 with the 4-1 and it felt much much stronger low and top end.

hopefully there's a slight chance that its a lil different cuz yours is a sedan...i already have the header ordered and on the way lol...with the coolant line, did the heat do anything to that since it sits on it?

Yeah mine is the same way, been that way for right at a year now and not a single problem. The downpipe is a little bit of a tight fit, and i do have an occasinal rattle that i cant figure our where its hitting at. At first it was hitting the thru bolt on the lower dogbone mount, but only very very slightly, so finnaly the other day a collector gasket at the end of the downpipe 3 bolt flange blew out and while replacing it i reposioned the 2 bolt downpipe flange so that it was away from the lower mount bolt and at first it was good then all while driving down the road it makes a horrific rattling sound, so i will be fixing it again today. Like i said its a tight fit and you have move it around to get it to clear everything, but once in it fits fine, also if you dont have poly upper and lower mounts, you may want to get them before you install this header becase there is no flex joint and if your engine is moving around lot it will casue problems down the road.

Hope that helps, for the money its a great product, but probably not the best fitting, if you want that you could pay way more than you need to, which with this motor isnt goign to make any differance.

did you figure out what the problem was?

Re: 2200 4-2-1

Well, when i turned the flange where the downpipe bolts to the end of the header, it was sitting right agaisnt the subframe, i wasnt paying close enough attention to that.

So while installing my new springs and struts and lower arms and brakes yesterday, i moved it again and it is clearing everything except my rk sport subframe brace, so im going to undo the brace and grind the bottom of the flange flat to clear the brace and all will be good.
