If anyone can help i am trying to get more horsepower for my car. I dont know what motor to swap for my 95' 2.2 5 speed cavalier. Dont know exactly what i would need as far as computer, wiring harness, engine mounts, and exaust, and anything else that might have changed from the 2.2.
you can swap a 2.4, a Eco, or the 3800 Supercharg motor. just got to do some reasearch on the subject
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
lol that would be sweet
but wich one will be the best swap
which one can you afford?
well, the 3800 s/c is pretty much as good as it gets when it comes to h.p. You can probably find a Buick regal in a junk yard almost anywhere, its just a matter of getting the PCM work done, the wiring, clutch, flywheel, tranny, custom subframe and much more work done.
"Projeckt Z24": PHASE ONE....
you have a 95, so you have OBD1... find a quad 4 HO; boost it if that isn't enough.
other than that, 3.4/3400 is a popular choice; 3800 is slightly more complicated(but certainly not impossible).
"i promise we won't get drunk, and go out in boat in the dark, stand up in the boat and fire the gun into the air unless we have life jackets on."
what would i need to get drunk do you have a boat
other than the motor what would i need to swap the 2.2 for the h.o. quad 4
How much would the 3800 swap cost , with everything already up and running
all this talk about the 3.8L supercharger swaping.... made me think.. if only some one would be willing to swap in a 3.8L Turbo Buick engine..
dont know if there would be any way to make it for a front wheel drive but you never know...

Why use that engine when the series 2 3800 is the third evolution to the old GN engines? The series 2 3800 does a great job and is already setup for FWD. You can then turbo it from there.

Yeah you could use the series 3 but then you have to wire the car for electronic throtle, not sure how much of a pain in the ass that would be.

build up the OHV you quitter =P
if adler can do it you can
raven - yea i know the 3800 is already FWD set up and what not... but it would be sweet just to see a 3.8L turbo buick engine sitting in the engine bay of a jbody... like picture this sitting in your engine bay... after a load of modifications that is.
It would look pretty cool to see that engine sitting in the engine bay thats for sure. I haven't seen one up close so I'm not sure if a FWD tranny would even bolt up to it (highly doubt it would as it probably has the same bolt pattern as the 350's). Now if I was going to convert it over to RWD then either an LS1 or LS2 would be in there.
