I have a high flow cat, and it caused my car to throw codes. I have to run an O2 simulator. How can someone improperly install a catylitic convertor?

how do you check to see if you threw a O2 code without taking it to a shop?
Isn't there a way to turn the key to the acc and press on the gas or something like that?
