Went to order pistons and the lady asked what my vehicle code was. Her file was pulling up L-61 series motor for saturn/gm/cavalier/sunfire/grand am cars. She said it was 86mm piston size. She needs to know this so when i order they are made correctly. I have a 1996 cavalier 2.2 liter
i think the l_61 is the eco
Don't get mad at me becuse your car is slower then a sunfire!
yeah, l61 is ecotec I think yours is ln2
so is mine a Ln2 and is 86mm stock bore size
The 8th digit in the VIN will be a
4
I know its a 4 but there is something else. Ross had all different codes for our cars and the had a letter in it also. Like L-61, etc for the eco. This more of a pain in the ass than i thought. Any other suggestions
I got a set of stock pistons froma 2002 2.2. E-mail me if your interested.
Thnaks titus03 but i am building my motor again i need pistons 30 over. Will be running 12:1 compression. When i called people about the pistons i thought i just needed to tell them that that i needed pistons 30 over for a cavalier. Didn't know that i need mm size vehicle code etc. There has to be somebody that has ordered forged pistons that can help me with these questions. I know that they should of been asked the same questions as me.
2.2 eco l61
2.0 eco lsj
2.4 eco le5
twin cam LN9?
older 2.2's sorry not a clue
2.2L & 2200 are also known as LN2.
The pistons would be in a .75mm oversize, which comes out to a few ten thousandths under .030".
the ecotec's stock bore size is 86mm not sure about your 2.2...
2.4 twin cam is the LD9 and the older 2.2's are Ln2 i believe
