Worth getting a turbo

I have about $4000 and was thinking about some serious mods...would putting a turbo on my 96 Z be worth the money? would it give me enough hp that $2000 should, i know i wont be able to out run an saleens or ferrari but would it boost my car up there w the gsx eclipse and gt mustangs?

In my opinion, a turbo kit is well worth the money. As soon as you get it installed, everything else seems pointless to you. It's a great feeling to press down the pedal and just GO...

Right now, our new J-Body Company (Cavalier Extreme) is offerring a complete Base Turbo Kit for $1995 on ebay. You can check that out here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7962384615&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

This has everything you need for a basic setup running at about 5 psi. If you ARE interested, we can offer you a different manifold and gasket so that it will work properly with the 2.4l motor. Just let me know on here, or you can always e-mail me at: frank@cavalierextreme.com

Turbos are worth the money.

yeah its worth it. but you cant just slap on a turbo and crank up the boost. need feul mods, intercooler, upgraded engine internals even, retard the timing would help.
but people have gotten away with stock internals with as much boost as 15 psi. with the correct timing, feul it can be done

although outside of the 1/4 mile it would be pointless to boost something to go faster cause us j-bodys still have the...*whispers* speed govenor, so i wouldnt be able to hit any higher than 107 mph in the 1/4

It seems that your more interested in speed and racing. A turbo is a major engine upgrade unlike little bolt-on molds it takes alot of time and patience to get it right i.e tuning , fuel etc. You need to look into putting on a turbo a little more carefully because if you just slap it on and start racing and what not BOOM!! need i say more. I am not trying to bash you or anything just look into it a little more to decide on what you want to do. You could build a nice n/a engine with that money.

thomas winter - If you're interested in a turbo kit for your 2.4, we can do it. Feel free to shoot me out an e-mail at: frank@cavalierextreme.com

You can also place the order for the one on ebay, and I'll send you a different manifold for it so that it works with the 2.4. Let me know what you want to do. Thanks.
