this morning i did my custom exhaust. I have a pacesetter 4-1 header with down pipe, 2.25 piping, 20" resonator, to a 40 series deltaflow flowmaster. I was all excited and prepared for the start up.... and it sounds like total DOO DOO!!!.... it performs really well, but it sounds like a little motorcycle full throttle.....kind of embarassing.
after i got my exhaust put on i was nervous how it would sound. I got lucky though. i like it
. i like it alot. sorry about yours man. good luck getting it the way you like.
New sig in the works
lol yea man i was all excited and as soon as i turned my key i wanted to run home... i was like NOOOO!!!
Give it a little time to build up some carbon inside the resonator and muffler. After the initial "break-in" period, it should start to sound better. Thats the way my exhaust sounded at first, but now its really nice and puts a smile on my face every time i step on it.
try a shorter resonator or no resonator, will be louder, but it might not sound like ass. It may be a hassle to get it to sound right, but your probably gonna have to try a few different setups along the way

I had the same exact setup and it was the worse sound i had ever heard. i never figured out if it was the header that made my exhaust sound bad or the muffler but in the 40 series defence the magnaflow i had on it before sounded different but just as bad
thanks for the advice, a guy i work with said the longer you have it the better it will sound, so hopefully that will work. I have a completely new system i really dont want to keep dumping in money lol.
yeah give it time it will get better, my 50 series did.
now i have a bad feeling baout my exhaust....my car is at the shop getting done now...it has weapon r header, high flow cat, 18'' resonator and 50 series delta flow muffler.....

HAHA, your probably talking about my old setup. Dude, I had those flowmasters on that they made for "4 & 6 cylinders" and it sounds like crap. Took me a while to realize it but I ended up swaping it out for magnaflow stainless steel mufflers and man, a total transformation in sound & performance. The reason I changed them was because something litteraly broke inside the muffler and made a high pitch ringing noise that sounded god aweful.
I say, if you don't want that raspy noise, change to Magnaflow or Borla mufflers.
