I have a home laythe/mill and also i have a machine shop at school, I have a 2200 engine, I was wondering how much work is involed w/ boring out the TB. Do I need to do anything to the manifold opening or anything else besides the TB? I'd like to just go pick one up from a junk yard, but i dont know all the details of doing it. Please help

My 59mm throttle body really woke up my other mods. I had a header, intake, hi-flow cat, custom exhaust....things got much livelier when the TB was installed.

You might find it easier to pull a 2.3HO TB off and use it. Do a search on it.

If you have the lathe and mill, why not just make your own any size? Just my thoughts on this.

Rice rocket? Since when does just being loud make you qualify as a rocket?

How much power does a Chevy sticker add?

^^^^ for sure. It's very tricky, you can't just chuck it up in the lathe and go. the flange and the bore have different centerlines. You must do it in the milling machine with a boring bar.

rotten eggs smell means your cat converter needs to be replaced.

take a look at this picture....notice how the bored out part isn't in the center? i dont know what constitutes where its bored out, but its definitely not the center. also dont forget u'd need a new butterfly too.

1 question to add, and 1 comment..

Will the 2.3 TB bolt right up, or will you have to add the IM as well?

And about your rotten egg smell,

I've had the same thing occasionally in my 2001, and I asked a Techinician about it and was told in A LOT of cases it's simply due to the sulfur content in the gas. It isn't always a bad catalytic converter. So make sure its bad before shelling out the cash for a new one.

I invented the idea of sniffing your fingers when you've spilled gas on them.

because if you bore it out on the same centerline as the flange, you'll eat through to the IAC passage. if you go any bigger than 57mm, you have to move the bore even further off center to avoid the same thing.

^^^^^^ very true i ran into this when i bored my eco TB out to 62mm it made a very slight opening into the IAC shouldnt be a hard fix cause its so small. but have to do it slightly off center
