heres the deal ive got the pacesetter header going into a magnaflow cat through the pacesetter catback.... it sound very good at low rpms nice and deep but when it gets up to 4500 or 5000rpms its not raspy but it sounds like something is loose and rattling in the back towards the muffler... its not the exhaust sound that im hearing its something else... ive checked everything and it all looks tight nothin is moving or anything nothings loose....the noise it very annoying/embarasing... any help you guys could provide would be appreciated..... thanks guys

I am listening as well.....I have a similar setup but on a 2200. The rattle seems to be only in the muffler and I have had a couple mechanics say that it is the baffles...or the sound supressing material inside that is rattling...I can't really figure out why because my Pacesetter Cat is only 4 months old. Let me know if you find a solution.
ya thats what it sounds like to me too but mine isnt even a month old....
<-thinks we are going to be calling pacesetter for an exchange->

thats a problem i think with prefab exhaust systems. the are not always an exact fit
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
yup..i got an Iperformance cat back exhaust...took it off cause i was sick of hearing the pipe rattle against the axle, and hit the axle any time i go over a bump. pipe runs about 1 inch above the axle...with the car empty its fine...as soon as i sit in it it rattles(only when vehicle is stopped, in reverse, or at certian RPM's). guess my 170lbs compresses the suspension too much. company web site says that if the exhaust hits the rear axle then the cars shocks are blown. car is only 8 months old...damned shocks arent blown. exhaust just needs to be redesigned.

Get a rubber mallet and hit the muffler. If theres anything loose inside of there youll hear it.My friend had the same problem, when he would give it gas,you heard a rattling noise. After a while whatever was in the muffler, flew out and the noise went away. Most likely, one of your baffles are broken.Either that or the baffles in your cat are broken.Just take the rubber mallet and hit the whole exhaust.

check the clamp, right before the axle where your muffler is attached you should see a bolt with a rubber/cloth strap tighten it down and it should be ok. This is wht i did on mine, never had a prollem since.
I have hit mine with a rubber mallet and the rattling is coming from the muffler. so if I keep hitting it the loose stuff will fall out?
don't have that problem and i have custom cat back. I would make sure all the hangers are where they are suppose to be.

You didn't know the muffler has bearings?
Yeah, at one point I took my cat off and at high rpms my exhaust rattled badly, it sounded like my muffler had a loose baffle, but it was actually just unburnt fuel burning off and popping when it hit the muffler baffles. This went away when I put the cat back on. Maybe your high flow cat is letting more unburnt fuel and exhaust vapors back to your muffler and causing this same problem.....just a thought.
check the heat sheild thats where mine came from

I have a pacesetter header, cat-back, and a Catco high flow cat. My rattle is from the muffler's baffles. I am thinking of just replacing the muffler or ripping the @!#$ baffles out.
