cavalier motors

ok i have asked like 20 people this question and none of them understand what im saying. i have a 98 cavalier with the 2200 motor and i am trying to order a obx header. everywhere i go they h ave 95-02 headers. so if i order off of that will i get a header for the 2200 motor. someone told me that 95-02 is just a 2.2liter engine, and 98-02 is just the 2200 motor. if that is not true will a 95 header fit a 98 header, or should i say will a 2.2liter header fit on a 2200 motor. also what is better ceramic headers or steel headers and why.

i am new to this website so hello everyone

thanks scott

there is this wonderful thing on this site called a search button, it's like google for j-body. all you have to do it click on it, type in what your lookin for and hit enter it is truly amazing at what you can find out there.

in all seriousness though this has been answered like a dozen times in the last year alone. the blocks for the two motors are very close and both headers would technically fit. the placing on the exhaust exits would be off by maybe an 1/8 of an inch. it was once suggested to take the gasket from the newer engine and marker the hears and grind out the excess. I don't really know if thats advisable or not.

on third gen cav's and fires the 2.2 ran from 95-97 and the 2200 ran from 98-to mid 02 then the ecotec was introduced.

theres a site that even tells you all of the specs of the different motors but i forgot the name of it.

ceramic is they way to go. it helps keep the exhaust temp inside the header instead of letting it into the engine bay. and with the extra heat in the header, that helps speed up the exhaust for faster exit.
