i have a 2.2 auto 1996 cavy (120 hp at the crank /135 lbs torque i think)
what mods should i do to get like 130/135 hp at the crank! (if not going turbo next winter)
I know the 1.6 roller cam help (if possible no header) underdrive pulley may help (no?)
I think your car only has like 115 or 120hp at the crank.

Yes officer I knew the speed limit was 50
I`m out of it I meant I dont think you have that much torque its less than 135lbs. but anyways Start with the basic stuff, like intake/header/exhaust/throttle body/engine mounts and I believe the roller rockers are good too but I`m not an expert on 2.2s . A light weight crank pulley is good too.

nitrous. you spend like $1000 maybe $2000 on bolt ons and only get like 30 hp if that.
spend 500 to 600 for a nitrous kit and there is anywhere from 35 to 100 extra HP at a push of a button
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
and then a nice big bang at the end
lol. jk.
I doubt your underdrive would free up THAT much. I'd agree with the above, and go the CAI, GOOD aftermarket exhaust, and TB. 15 more HP at the crank shouldn't be impossible to get with minimal effort. Though may I ask, why are you only after an extra 15 horses?
because im not all about speed i just wanna be able to pass people on the highway and getting on the higway in a little easier way!! aka not having the engine nearly explode because it's rushing !!
sounds good to me
I was just curious. A lot of people are after big time gains. My performance will be limited to intake and exhaust. I'm not looking to impress anyone with my lightning-fast Cavalier.
Stock for the 96 2.2 at the crank is 120 hp, 135 lbs/torque.
i say build your car up first before you go boost. Bolt-ons, ignition, suspension, brakes, internal, then boost. Well that's pretty much the path I'm taking anyways. I only got a few things left to do to my suspension ( Konis, coil overs, and rear strut bar) my bolt ons are done, I have my valve train ordered.
2.2s are slow.

it's not ghetto, it's "in progress"
for the price of all the bolt ons you could do a 2.4 swap and get an extra 30hp and still have tons more potential in the engine
Auto to manual swap, nice and easy to get on the highway just gotta get the rpms up there
My friend, you say you just want a lil' extra horsepower, but trust me, speed is addictive.
I remember wehn I just wanted an intake...then a muffler...then exhaust...then why not a hi-flow cat...well hell, throw on a header, I like the way this is goin..ooh, an underdrive pulley would be nice...found out hwere to get a 59mm tb...and so on i went, and so on..
..trust me, youll be the same way. good luck!
...don't hate!.. respect people that have talent, even if it is in something you don't like or understand.
speed and me = not so good buddies I never really go over the speed limit!!!
also im keeping the automatic tranny , if my girlfriend got to drive it at least shell be able to do it!
Is realistical realistically a real word? Be for real.
