Hey whats up?
How loud is the 40 series non delta flow muffler?I got one the other day for free,so im thinking of putting it on.I have a tenzo muffler now and its too loud,so i dont want to put on a muffler thats gonna be louder.I read on the flowmaster site that its loud inside the car,is that true?I have a 2.5" header back exhaust with a 22" magnaflow resonator.Do you think it will sound good?Or should i look for another muffler?Im looking for a muffler thats not too loud.Thanks.

I have the Flowmaster 40 Series and I like the way it sounds I have many of my JBF buddies that have them and it sounds great ..... Magnaflow are cool too but they are a bit louder for my ears... or maybe it's the old age... but Flowmaster 40's is good enough not loud not too soft like stock model .... nice tone .... in between..

They sound great. Can hear it well in the car, but it's not raspy. They've got a really throaty sound throughout the rev range.
Gotta keep on livin', L-I-V-I-N
Thanks guys, maybe ill try and have it installed tommorow.Do you think my supercharger will make it alot louder?

I would say don't get it. I had those mufflers on my car and when I replaced them, the sound was WAY deeper and actually gained power back cause they are more restrictive than my current Magnaflow mufflers. With our cars, I will always suggest Magnaflow or Borla for exhaust setups/mufflers. Flowmaster is more geared torwards v8 cars and they try to make a slight appeal to the v6 and 4 cylinder crowd but in my opinion, it's a gimmick.

Also, the reason I ended up changing my mufflers was because something litterally broke inside the muffler and made a high-pitch ringing noise that sounded horrible. I didn't want to buy another one and go through the same problem with the muffler so I changed it to Magnaflow.

I had a 40 series deltaflow and it was loud as s hit in the car...The borla I have is a lot better inside the car, but still powerful and loud outside.

where can i get a decent price on a borla?
i had a 40 series delta flow on my 99 sunfire 9along with a header, 2 1/4 piping & cat) and it sounded great. if your worried about it being too oud get a 50 or 60 series...they are quieter. i have a 50 series on my 04 and it sounds good. also pretty quiet, not really any louder than a stock camaro is. however i have the rest of the exhaust stock with a ported manifold.

I think im gonna hold off on putting it on.Alot of people are telling me its gonna be too loud.Right now i have a silencer in my muffler to keep most of the noise down.If i put it on,i know im gonna have a problem with the state troopers & county cops. For some reason they love pulling me over.Im thinking about putting a stock muffler on and getting one of those electric exhaust cutouts.Does anyone have any experience with them?I think its called the qtec.I hear after a while they dont seal too good when there closed.I guess from the heat it gets warped or something. Thanks for your responces guys.

I have a 50 series delta flow and it sounds awsome. Get a glasspack as a resonator and it will be fine, mine sounded like crap without one. Unless im getting on it, it really isn't that loud. $14.99 for a glasspack through Summit Racing.
i have a 40 series non-delta.....
its pretty loud when your getting on it.....but it has a great sound to it
ive had alot of people ask what kinda 1/4 miles times im running, and when i say my best is a 16.8 there like huh???? that thing sounds like you got mad work done to it
i have two on my truck running dual 3 inch pipe. i dont know if this happens on 4 cyl. too, but i get an annoying drowning sound about 2000 rpm. i am taking them off next week and getting aerochambers or something borla.

so how does the flowmaster 40s sound on the ecotec?
personally i like my 50 series delta...i here my engine inside the car but outside the car you har nothing but a deep A$$ lope and a deep sound throughout my rpm range.

Im reading the other posts, and alot of people are saying the muffler sounds like crap,so i think im gonna go with a magnaflow.Do you think this one will sound good?
All of the regular magnaflow mufflers with tips are only 14" long with a 5"x8 oval body, and this is 22" long with a 5"x 11" oval body.It should be alot quieter than the regular magnaflows right?Im gonna get a nice tip for it than im set. What sites sell nice exhaust tips for a reasonable price?

i gues i'm the only one that likes flowmaster. i cant get over how great it sounds on my car.
MY 2003 SUNFIRE
The other reason why im not putting it on is that its used. The guy at the muffler shop said they just took it off of the truck 2 days earlier. So i dont know the reason why he took it off in the first place.I just ordered the magnaflow off ebay for $108 shipped. Its more than twice the size of my current muffler,so im hoping it wont be as loud. Are you guys with magnaflow happy with the sound?

That magnaflow will be alot better as long as you use a resonator
