ok, i just got my pacesetter header installed, but the guy said it has a leak from the gasket and all the bolts are tight, is the gasket that crappy or did i get a bad header?, will a thicker copper gasket fix it, and if so, where do i get one

also i got 2.5 inch piping, cat and muffler, the sound is awsome......until it gets raspy, can someone point me in the right direction for a good resonator that will make the raspy sound go away,

btw the car is a 2003 ecotec cavalier

thanks man, but what size resonator should i use........18 inch, or what.......i just don't wanna buy the wrong one and still have raspy noise


also the car makes a kinda tapping noise that varys with rpms at wot......is that because the header isn't sealing all the way?

right, but after just paying 180 bucks i cant exactly just go out and buy a new header, and from what ive heard the pacesetter is fine, just the gasket is hit and miss

reuse the stock gasket

as far as a resonator goes, i have a 26" in my system, event has a 30". also, i dont knwo if they make em for 2.5" pipe. dont see why they wouldnt though.

ok, well i think a lot of the raspy sound is from the header leak, when the car is hot, the sound goes away, so i think a new gasket will help. i wish i had the stock one, but i told the guy to go ahead and trash the stock parts..........guess i'll go to the dealer, can't be too much

yeah, i noticed, guess i shot myself in the foot on that one........well live and learn i guess

and yeah, i think i still need a resonator, when it heats up and seals, it gets raspy at about 5000 rpm, so i bet i could use a resonator still, but the gasket will clear up a lot of the problem

at 5k rpm? I say don't worry about it. Its not like your driving at that rpm all the time. Its going to cost you to get the resonator then cost more to get it installed. Get some other performance mods for that kind of money. But then again its your car.

yeah, i thought about that earlier....but the exhaust shop said he will install a resonator for 40 bucks, including parts for a 12 inch resonator and 50 for a 24 inch, so i think i will just go ahead and put one in

Art has a torpedo not a resonator.

That thing is massive.

They make 2.5 ID resonators.
Well magnaflow should still have some.

Reusing the stock gasket is the best bet 90% of the time.
Isn't it supposed to be a stainles steel joint anyway.

Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.

i used the stock gasket also i used. I have a 2.4 with a 29" resonaotr. They had to chop off the ends on mine so it would fit.
