Okay, as most of you probably knew I am building a race ecotec motor. Anyone that has every tore an ecotec down might be very very helpful at the moment. I have run into a snag and cant put the engine back together yet. I purchased a bare bone ecotec block for my build-up since the other one was completely destroyed. Right next to the balance shafts there are 2 small plugs on the front of the motor that sit next to a bolt that holds the balance shaft in. I am unable to find a plug to fit this. My GM dealership regardless of me showing them the block in person and also diagrams says for some reason there is no plugs for that. I on the otherhand know better I had pulled them out of the old ecotec motor to see if I could find a performance or engine rebuild shop match them up. At this time it has been 2 weeks and I have turned up empty handed every single time. Every oil galley plug I got from napa or another local parts shop has either been way too damn small or way too big.
What do I do???? If it comes to it I will probably just have to tap the hole and find a plug that can screw in flush. Has anyone replaced these 2 little plugs? If so what is the part # and where can I get them. You really wouldnt believe how frustrating this is knowing that 2 small pieces could stop this from going back together. If anyone has any suggestions that is valuable to me then It would be greatly appreciated.

drill it and tap it for NPT threads. Those are the only threads you should use for a high pressure oil plug.
use 1/8" OR 3/8" NPT. whatever size fits up the best.

no, basically it is a really tiny freeze plug or (Expansion Plug) as some would call it. you have to damage them to take them out. I only took the ones out of the blown engine to find some at the parts stores and nobody had anything to match them. If I remember correctly since I did this at work. the Plug measured 12.75 mm or maybe it was 13.75 , When I talked to the guy at the dealership he gave me hell saying there is no plug in that area. To prove it I made him come out to my truck and look at the engine block. (At the time I had the blown engine block and the brand new one in my explorer with one of the old oil galley plugs still in it. The guy looked for 30+ minutes couldnt find a damn thing about it.
So when I talked to the machine shop tech at napa, he looked at it and told me that those plugs are rare and very hard to come by.
