Monday, February 28, 2005 4:39 PM
I just found a listing in the web page http://www.quad4forums.com/forums/products.php
for a 2.6L stroker kit, tried to log on to the site the suposivly sells that kit, and nothing came up. Can anyone tell me where i can find a stroker kit for a 2.4 LD9 engine?

next time search....I posted this a while ago.........you have to use a 2.3L block with a 2.4 crank....then go from there....you can get the compression up to like 15:1......and its a 2.5L stroker....its only a 2.6 if you bore the block 30 over which is not recommended on the 2.3 block...the walls are too thin

Why do you guys limit yourselves to whats only been done?
Im pretty sure if we had enough money that some kinda kit like that could be developed for the 2.4 and not just swapping the crank to the 2.3 block. The question is who could develope this stroker kit?

it could be done with some custom pistons and rods......a little bit of block work.....i was gunna do it.....my brother works for gm racing and a guy he works with knows how to make strokers out of our Ld9's pretty easy....anyone can if u have ever did any internal work before and u do your homework...my father has been building engines for 30 years so that kinda helps too....hahah..but it can be done guys....my project is coming along......2.4 litre .030 over, wiseco 8.5:1 pistons, eagle rods, 2.3 head p&p, secret cams, custom fabricated intake manifold, rsm stage 1 vortech supercharger pushing 8 psi.., and if im lucky....a front mount.....im suspecting around 280 hp.....i cant wait.....im waiting for pistons right now......they are custom made from wiseco....4 week waiting period...

you answered your own question. i will hand carve you a billet crank for $20,000 if you want it. why are we limited to using stock parts? we arent. its people not willing to pay the price for a stroker kit that is the deciding factor. we could make a billet crank to whatever stroke we think we can fit in the block, and put all sorts of other race parts on it. but you know good and well you arent about to pay the money it costs to have one off custom machined parts in your motor.

since i was helping alot with the discussion of the stroker kit with TRS, it was the fact that using stock sized parts dropped costs almost in half. using stock sized 2.4 rods means you can use eagle forged rods, not custom rods. so if you want forged rods, they are off the shelf items. if you break them, you can get more for dirt cheap.

he has a very good point..its not that were making custom parts and paying for it ..its that were just taking the best parts from both the quad and tc engines to make a better engine
i hear this thing really makes some torque by the way ..im looking into swaping the 2.4 crank and rods in my 2.3 just gotta keep doing my homework so i get it right....am i mistaken of does the CPS need repositioned ..i read something about putting it against the crank pulley is that right?

Mantapart has a 2.5L stroker kit...they only charge $5000 - $9000 for it.

yea, you need a way to run the new stroker. most people used a standalone ECM, but i came up with a way to relocate the CPS to the crank pulley, so you could still use the stock ECM to run the motor. you would need a chip, and the race shop is working on perfecting that chip.

the stroker shortblock that manta sells is over double the price of the one that TRS is selling. if you are interested, call him up, or send an email. BTW, the stroker that TRS sells is a fully assembled shortblock, with forged pistons. if you want forged rods, just add $319 and he puts in eagle rods instead of stock 2.4 rods.

why relocate the CPS? use a 87-88 block. They were 0° too witch is perfect for the 2.4 crank.

the blocks are actually the same. its that the programming is different in those early quads and it knows to reference at 0 degrees instead of the 15 degrees like the later model ECMs. since most people dont use those old motors, we had to make a change to run normal W41 ECMs and stuff.
