They are installed! Vibrates like a bitch when first accelerating but that was known beforehand...Motor sounds different now. I have an AEM CAI and I notice a big difference from the sound with it on before and after the mounts...I recommend. VIbrations will take some time to get used to though.
Reading threw old posts, i remember reading something about replacing the trans mounts would stop the vibration.
My Sunfire
cool...yeah i was gonna get the trans mounts soon...and if it stops vibration that would be awesome.
looking at the transmounts they are a bitch to replace
the trans mounts aren't to bad to replace, I did at my shop with air tools, took about an hour. Cody (Meltdown 350) did his a couple days, you can get the rear mount from the top of the car, its easy but a bit time consuming. With trans mounts it will help with vibrations, with trans mounts and motor mounts there is a bit of vibration just off idle, not bad at all. ALso who cars how the motor mounts make the car sound
i know it doesn't matter how the car sounds with them...i'm just saying...it is noticeable, but it's a good sound that it makes. just sounds more like a beast(even though it is just a sunfire)
darkstars,
how about the front tranny mount? whats the best way to get that one out?
the front mount is very simple, put the car on jackstand suport the trans and unbolt it from underneith, piece of cake, the rear one takes considerably more time then the front, you could do the front while sleeping hahaha
exactly, i did my motor mounts one night and drove around til the next day (vibes were annoying)
put my trans bushings in, the vibes are just as bad... but i'm either getting used to them or they're "breaking in".... i dunno
i just wish i had air tools....
if you're going with hand tools, make sure you have a full set of 1/2" sockets (including deep well) and a 1/2" breaker bar and rachet, and if you're going to do the rear trans mount from the top (i don't even know how someone could do it any other way..?) you'll need a 20" extension with a swiveler type device cause you can't get it from straight on
have fun busting knuckles
do the tranny mounts work with autos as well?

no, there are no trans mounts ou for the autos
so there is pretty much nothing to do about the vibrations except make sure everything in dash is as tight as it can go?

which pisses me off because i have an auto
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.

wasnt your washer resevoir in the way?
you can get to the main bolt in the rear tranny mount from the bottom
havent tried it from the top because i had it up on a lift so i could get the a-armbushing is
unfortunately didnt get a lift until late so i couldnt really do anything just poked around
for everyone having lots of vibration in the dash with these mounts, all i can say is...god bless dynamat
for the front trans bushing you have to take out all the stuff in the wheel well.... sorry
honestly i'd rather deal with taking a few minor things apart than have to do that f'n rear one again.... grr
it's amazing how much less rattle i have in the dash after taking out the mesh i had in the top vent...
