I was just curious I friend of mine had a CAI and said it used more gas than his stock airbox, at the time I had a WAI and it helped gas mileage quite a bit it seemed. I was just wondering if there was a diffrence because I was trying to decide between an Injen Air Intake or an AEM cold air intake...or even an RK sport intake.
i read that at first till your engine adjusts to the increased airflow your engine will in fact you use more gas than normal but after that you should get better gas mileage, i know i do

He prob likes the sound of it when you step on it, that'll yous up gas quick.. If he was easy on it, it would be better..

If you can hear the sound the intake makes, your on the gas too much. So if its quiet, you will have better gas mileage then if you could hear it. Doesnot however the same rule for those with forced induction, cause they are always gonna hear the sound.

CAI sucks cold air (go figure) which is denser, so the computer adds more fuel than if the intake air was warmer. Simple concept, and yes it's true. It's still possible to get better than stock fuel economy with a CAI, just mind your right foot.

I know that with my CAI from AEM, i ONCE, and never repeated, got about 450 miles in one tank, and it came out to around 35 mpg, that was city and hwy driving pretty much equally.

I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
Ive tested this theory. Between an Ingen CAI, and WAI. There was a 4 degree diferrance in incomming air temp at idle, and a .05 degree differance at 70mph. There is no disernable differance between the 2 as opposed to the other in terms or which is better. I guess the only real differance would be weight. so a CAI would be heavier.
