My motor is built and back in my car.... and all I can say is fast....The situation was that I spun a bearing when my oil pump went out. at least I was under warrenty. This new motor came from a 2000 model z24 but I had to use my 97 wiring harrness.......anyways....my car has never pulled this hard stock....it doesn't lope so there might not be performance cams. I don't know what it is but i'm happy.
now I have a question about parts for this motor (internal) are the parts the same for this motor although it came from a different year catagory?
96 - 01 ld9 = all the same
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
wait so you are telling me that you put a bone stock 2000 2.4L engine in and it pulls sooo much harder than the bone stock 1997 2.4L? Interesting...especially that they have the same power rating and are basically the same engine. What you should have done was rebuilt the new motor to prevent spinning another rod bearing.

well a "fresher" engine might perform a little better.. but prolly only a little bit if at all... but hey.. good for you if it feels stronger.. thats a good sign at least

1979 Impala Sport Coupe Aeroback
also the motor in the car before must of had issue becuase when we tore it down there was sugnifigent damage to the timing chain tentioner and ofcourse the crank......I only owned the car for two months and was under an extended warranty, so when the motor went I was covered...................I still plan to rebuild the decommissioned motor.....also I was only out 200 bucks........besides there is no telling what the previous owner did to this engine to cuase it to be in the shappe it was in..........also it was my fualt for not looking in to the engine when I first got the car..........but two motors one to drive for now and the other to build, at least it sounds good to me.
the motor only has a better pull than the older one in the lower range......still no top end.....well none really do stock.
out moters dont have a top end.. its all about the low end tourq :d

Ehhhh, Wrong! In '99 they bumped the compression ratio up from 9.5 to 9.7. Not a big change, but probably worth a couple HP, but not enough to warrant a new factory rating.
