well the ls1 rocker is a 1.7 ratio to the 2200's 1.6 ratio? Seems there could be some performance gain from that?
Also what about using the comp cam 918 valve spring on a 2200?
actually the stock 2200 rockers are 1.54 they ar e advertised as 1.6 .
and yes it is possible i got the part number for the rocker studs in my reg. if you care to look and i plan on using the 1.75 roller rockers, on my spare head im building.
i wont be done with it probally untill spring but thats what my goal is . alitte porting and big rockers. DO A SEARCH theye are some posts by hotrodv6, event (muffin man), and me that i remember. i was inspored to this swap from hotrods origonal post from which i learned of the swap. <br>

Thought there was no alignment plate for the rockers that big to fit on our engines yet? or do they finally have one now?

No, the LS1 Rockers are a M8 sized Stud that screws in the head. where as the 2200 uses a M10 sized bolt. they will not work. <br>

can you not have the ls1 drilled to the m10? I sure a machine shop could do it. might have to make a jig for it, but i will check it out monday and let you guys know.

you have to modify your factory guid plates from what i have read in the past
and you nee part number 99154-2 from crane cams for the studs. <br>
Ill try and set the record straight here.
First off the 95-97 rockers use a 10mm stud, and the 98+ 2200 use an 8mm stub just lke the LS1.
The LS1 rockers will work, either the stock 1.7, or comp 1.75 or 1.85
The problem is that the 2200 needs to have self aligning rocker arms because it doesnt have pushrod guideplates, the crane rockers are self aligning so they bolt right on.
Im in the process of making a one piece guideplate that will bolt down using the rocker studs, just that other projects, and life in general keeps getting in the way. But i hope to have it finished around the first of the year, and it will allow you to bolt on the comp rockers in either ratio you want.
I have test fitted a 1.85 onto the engine on my stand and rotated it thru several cycles, with no hitting of anything and the stock spring wasnt even close to coil bind, but havent ran one on a car yet to know for sure without a doubt it wil work, for that the guideplate has to be done first.

I am not for sure, but the ls1 does not have guide plates either... SO would this make the ls1 rockers a direct bolt on for th 2200?
A quick note about rocker stud part numbers,these are from ARP:
2200 98+ 8mm base with 3/8" top....................134-7221(2ea)
2.2L LN2 97&older 10mmbasewith 3/8" top......100-7221(2ea)
anyone found out anyother info on this, gonna be doing the swap tomorrow. I will have pictures also if it all works

How does one go about measuring the ratio on rockers? I have a nagging suspicion that Howell came up with 1.54 to better sell his 1.6 rockers.

I do know that on 95-97 the geometry does not come out exactly to 1.6 when you install the compcam rocker arms since the pushrods are not the correct size. That is why after some time the pushrods bend.

the ls1 rockers will not 0 lash. i think the 2200 rocker pedestal is too tall for the ls1 rcoker body. I am gonna talk this over with one of my machine shop guys and see what i can do to counter this.
the ls1 pedestal will not work, but i am gonna measure the differnce between the two and see what i may be able to machine off the 2200 pedestals.
anyone have a spare set or the 2200 pedestals?

The pushrod length doesn't affect the rocker ratio, only the geometry of the conact point of the rocker arm tip to the valve stem.

Well, the stock rockers dont need guideplates becasue of the design of the rocker pedastal, just like the stock 2200 rockers. Now i cant say for sure a stock LS1 rocker will work, but i do know that even on the LS1 when you run the comp rockers you have to run the guidplates, now i have the 1.85 rockers, the LS1 rocker studs and the the LS1 guideplates, and i also have the Howell/Crane Pushrods, but will have to get custom ones made becasue the Howell/Crane ones are not heat treated which is required for use with guideplates. I have the studs and guideplates mounted, i will take some pics this weekend and post them up. Also im using the Comp LS1 26918 spring and Del West titanium retainers and valve locks, and also SI stainless 95-97 valves.(they are taller for more installed height, the stock 2200 has 1.60 of spring installed height and the LS1 springs require 1.80 of installed height, the valves will get me to to within .050 or so and then ill have the machine shop machine down the valve seat in the head to get to the needed 1.80 height.) Then you can run up to .600 lift and well above the 6K redline in the 2200 computer. I plan on raising mine to atleast 7K maybe 8K. Now the Comp LS1 rockers are wider than stock and come really close to the sides of the springs on some of the valves, but with the guideplates they wont move side to side and there is enough clearance so they wont hurt anything.
This isnt just a bolt on swap, and will yeild good results if the have to retain the stock cam, and even will give you more lift out of the few aftermarket cams that are available and can be used as a tuning trick, small block chevy guys have been mixing and machting rocker ratios for years to move the power band aroudn where they want it, you can run more ratio on the exhaust to help get all the burnt stuff out without changing the cam.
