Would the exhaust cam from a 1991 cutlass calais work for the secret cam swap? Casting number 225/455. I have a 98 cavalier z24 thanks again I did search but couldnt find a for sure answer .
Yes officer I knew the speed limit was 50
I just checked and those are the same casting numbers as the exhaust cam thats sitting under my bed. Just make sure its from a 2.3 LO not HO
You can get the cam brand new fro Auto Zone for $113.
So can I also get those cams for 95 quad4 z24.
With a 95 Z24 you already have the intake cam you need. Just swap your exhaust cam.
FU Tuning
you can't identify the cams with the casting number since the Lo, Ho and W41 all had the 225/455 casting.

2.3 Ho
Whats the PN of the new one from autozone? I've looked and they're hard to find around here unless i want to drive 5 hours or so. A roadtrip for a $75 piece from a junkyard isnt worth it to me. Anyone got a part #?
AutoZone part number is #MC832.
I have the correct cam for sale on Ebay right now. All three *secret* exhaust cams I had were the 225-455 casting number.
Besides, you'd know if you had the HO or W41 cam anyways, because they wouldnt fit in your cam housing. *And* if you got the W41 cam for a LO price, I wouldnt complain either!

If this is your auction
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7913266691&category=33614 then I was wondering why you took someone elses picture and discription layout to list your item. Also I would warn anyone buying from this person since the feedback of the seller is very bad, alot of wrong part, broken part, not advertised part listing in the negative feedback of the seller. And to anyone wanting the cam, i would say go to the junk yard and pull it, b/c if you cant pull it, you cant put them in.
OOoooo Spitcan, you're just asking for trouble with that sig,
lol.
If you can find a 255/455 casting# then you should be ok.

Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.
anyway, the exhaust cam from a 1991 calais will work. That is what I have and it is the 2.3 LO engine...just make sure it is from a VIN D engine.
I had 68,500 miles on my 2.4 when I changed the cams and cylinder head. I purchased a head installation gasket set from Fel-Pro and replaced all the gaskets and seals, including the water pump in a Saturday and a Sunday. I also changed the timing chain tensioner and shoe so as not to worry about any timing chain noise or anything. So, I really dont know what needed to be replaced. I was just rebuilding the entire top end.
so I installed all new gaskets and seals, a ported and polished cylinder head, stainless valves, stiffer valve springs, the cams, new lifters and flushed the cooling system. I would recommend replacing the lifters with the cams, although a lot of people will probably tell you it is not necessary. If you want to replace the lifters, contact Karo. He will get you some for a good price.
