Figured I would make another post so incase people didnt read "Help.... LO INTAKE INSTALL"
I managed to get the manifold on and ran the dyno for it
my car is a 96 2.4L (NO exhaust, CAI, WAI, cams etc.)
HO INJECTORS are on the car. (run for both tests)
A day at the dyno:
STOCK :
127.6 WHP
126.3 TORQUE
took me 1 hour to swap the manifold, I changed nothing on the car EXCEPT the manifold.
LO Intake:
138.9 WHP
124.2 TORQUE
I would post the sheets but I dont have a scanner, somehow I will figure out how to get them on here for everyone to see.
Both tests were run w/o the EGR valve. Instead I used the EGR simulator from ZZPerformance.com

I have a couple LO mani's laying around. Makes me want to put it on mine but I'd have to redo some of my charge piping.
Did you use the Throttle body from the LO or your stock 2.4's TB? <br>

so does lower torque and higher horsepower mean hte car has more power or not? Sorry for stupid question, i'm pretty much new to the whole modding scene. How would your track times change now with the manifold?
2.4 TB for stock run, 2.3 tb for LO intake run.
Lower torque means that it doesnt pull as hard, so acceleration is affected, however, once you get past 3500 RPM it revs up very very quick and spools out. I like it but there are draw backs. I am just happy to pop the hood and say.. "does your 2.4 look like that" to the other people here locally that have z24's. If you have any questions about this mod feel free to post, I can give you advice to just about every single end of it. <br>

so then i guess that means the power curve changed a bit? Accelerates slower at low revs but harder at higher revs? You did gain 11HP though so overall it would be a bit more powerful right? even with a little less torque.
BTW this site is awsome to learn about all this stuff..i'm absorbing knowledge like a sponge here.
It makes me wonder how much of the dyno results are as a result of the larger TB opposed to the whole intake. I'm half tempted to just get a larger TB for my stock 2.4 manifold and see if I gain similiar results.

He lowered peak torque (probably low to middling torque as well) and gained high rpm torque (HP). Do not separate torque and hp.
Remeber guys, its average power we are after, not just peak. Telling just the peak without presenting the curve is, for our purposes, meaningless. He may have gained some high rpm torque, but how extensive were the loses besides those of peak torque? How did those peaks change? I know we're not dealing with huge losses/gains here but we can at least make the most of his sacrifice for the org.

Yeah, I just put the 56mm 2.3L TB on with the stock 2.4L manifold and am wondering how much of a difference just the TB makes. I can tell there is a shift, but I dont know how drastic it is. It pulls a lot harder after 3000rpm, but the low end feels a little less responsive...However what the hell does the butt dyno know anyway??!!

Wow...11 horses gained from intake and throttle body....almost sounds to good to be true. I wonder if i would get the same result if i get HO manifold and a 62mm throttle.
But i thought i read somone flow tested the ho mani and it flowed less then the 2.4...i guess i need to do some more reading.

I didn't read the whole thread, so if this has been answered, sorry. Which LO intake did you use. The one that closely resembles the HO, or the one that looks like an equal length header?

I am using the LO intake that closely resembles the HO mani.
You are all very welcome for the sacrifice of me dynoing the intake... YES I TOOK A HIT FOR THE TEAM...
The HO/LO manis do flow better than the Stock 2.4L.... Why else would Karo be using it?
looking at the graphs... the curve does change significantly...
Stock peak was between 5250 and 5500RPM
LO peak was close to 4750 to 5000 RPM
Mid range torque changed... and it does pull harder and harder after 3 grand... it seems like it doesnt want to stop pulling.
NEWS:
Went to the track tonight... on the way there I noticed my car was like... skipping for a split second when I was at WOT... has anyone had this prob? It would do it then stop and do it again then stop... I do have a new FP, FPR, FF, O2 sensorS, spark plugs. Anyways, I bought 18" motegei MR7's yesterday w/ tires for 500 bucks w/ about 5000 miles on them... not a bad deal I thought... my last run w/ stock intake and 16's (stock) was 15.856 @86.3 MPH
Tonight with 18's and manifold it was 15.640 @ 87.1 MPH

The HO manifold has been flow tested to flow less than a stock 2.4 intake manifold. By how much... or what they flowed... I do not have that information handy.

I think it had soemthing to do with not only the flow but the volume that the HO holds comapred to the stock 2.4 iono, nice to see the gain tho, upload the graphs, i def noticeda diff above 3500 when i did mine. Thats 11WHP so thats good. <br>

so you changed nothing but then you say this:

? most of your gain was likely from the 2.3L 56mm throttle body.....
so you cant claim that you gained 11hp from just the mainfold like you originally state.
so was this done with ONLY the LO intake. or the LO intake and Throttle body as well.?
not saying its not a decent gain, just trying to make sure that everyone isnt getting the wrong info. as per what the manifold itself is benefiting..

yes the TB's were changed, thanks for clarifying... but why would I run a smaller tb on a bigger intake... c'mon... common sense.......... <br>

I do not think the TB its self would give up 11hp. i have a 57mm TB, and I know mine did not give me that much. <br>

What happens is that even though air is a rather large determineing factor with HP and torque, airflow is also a large factor. Since he went with an air intake that is a bit more restrictive than the original, what is gonna happen is the torque and horsepower curves are gonna move up the RPM range. Since Horsepower is basically a value that is based on torque by decreasing the amount of torque you can increase the amount of horsepower the engine puts out. This can help you out if you race your car and keep your RPMs within the optimal Horsepower band. Unfortunately it doesn't help if your start accelerating from idle because the engine won't have as much pull at the lower RPM's.
To increase overall performance you really need a manifold that provides lots of airflow and doesn't run out of air at the higher RPMs
Just by the looks I don't think that it is more restrictive, and wouldn't that cause a loss of power???? It also has a bigger throttle body which would flow better, especially at HIGHER rpm's <br>
