i have a 1997 sunfire and was wondering if i could drop in a 2.2l ecotec motor in place of my old 2.2l and if so wut all would i have to get in order to do it besides a new wiring harness??
a new car
been there done it.
you need to get a 2003+ donor wrecked car and then swap everything over.
yout cant just drop in the engine and engine harness.........the only thing really the same for 95-99 and 03-05 is the shell.....everything else is slightly different and wont work
what about Eri's sunfire, it had the 2.4 LD, now it has the 2.2 eco....it can be done, but unless you have an endless supply of cavaliers and sunfires, then it would be a challenge.
you will have to cut and weld the mounts as they are different, and pretty much everything under the hood needs to be swapped over as well. Good choice in motor swapage
eri's eco swapped worked cus the 2000+ Js all share the same tranny mounts....however the 95-99 use a differnt rear tranny mount location.
now what about just a regular 2.2l from a later year?
If you were going to do a swap eco or the ld9 would be your best bet. Either that or get a new 2200 and build it up from there.
yea thats what i might end up doing is getting another 2200 and build that one up. seems like the easier route to take lol
