so i need some advice i have a 98 cavy 4 door and i wanna order this turbo kit from ebay comes with turbo, manifold, blow valve, manifold so on.....my engine has about 129 thousand miles on it ...........u think it can hack it or will it blow .................p.s. i know ebay not to reliable decided to take my chances..............
Dont go with the ebay kit, go with a custom kit or the Hahn Racecraft. Im going to go with the Hahn Racecraft when i get the funds around. A parts list for a custom kit is stickied on top of the boost forum.
^ but i would either do a motor swap to a ecotec before he does that. Turbos love the ecotec or a 2.4, i wouldnt really want to put alot of stress on a motor that has over a 100k with boost. I mean im not one to be talking about boost seeing as its not really my area of expertise.
Talk to shifted, scott, ben, phil ( QBE ), or any of the fetters

scott is not boosted! lol
But honestly a motor with over 100,000 miles is risky but can be done. I would invest in doing a swap to make more power but if you want easy in installing a 2200 or 2.2 ohv are easy to do turbos on due to the exhaust manifold on the front. So if your not looking to build a fast car then stick with build that engine with the turbo install.
tight tight............my car is basically all show but im tired of show wanting to add some go..........so even if i do get it u think i would beat a v6 at least cuz i have the money just need to make the order...........yea risking with ebay i know but gonna try it out if it blow ill swap or something
check the classifieds here on jbo, or check out jbok, azjbo, all have stuff for sale. I would do that before going to ebay

maybe not, but i obviously know a thing or 2 about engine swaps and builds
yet, i have to agree with these guys..i dont think youll be happy with the ebay kit...and when i say "not happy" i mean you may end up paying all that money and spend all the time putting it on and it may run like crap..or worse do damage to your engine....
when doing any kind of performance modification you FIRST before ANYTHING else need to know where you wanna be when your done...do you wanna be VERY VERY fast?do you just want to be quicker than you are now? what are your goals????
yea......i see what u mean , pretty at least faster than a stock v6 is my goal.............AT LEAST.............I DONT KNOW I MEAN IVE HEARD DIFFERENT OPINION I KNOW PEOPLE THAT HAVE GOT KITS OFF EBAY AND THERE GOOD I KNOW ITS A GAMBLE EITHIER IT WILL LAST OR ITS A PIECE OF @!#$............. IT COST A LITTLE OVER A GRAND I MEAN IT COMES WITH EVERYTHING ...TURBO, INTERCOOLER,MANIFOLD,BLOW OFF VALVE AND IM A AUTOMATIC......BUT I WORRY CUZ MY ENGINE HAS SO MANY MILES AND I USED TO RUN NITROUS ON IT SO I KNOW THERE SOME WEAR AND TEAR.........BUT IF ANYONE IS SELLING LET ME KNOW I LIVE IN CORPUS CHRISTI TX SO FAR I SEE MOST RECOMMEND A SWAP BUT EVEN AT THAT ITS STILL GONNA BE A STOCK ENGINE NOTHING TO BE PROUD OF AT LEAST THIS WAY I CAN SAY IT HAS A TURBO .........
it depends what you want. I'm turbo'ing my 2200 and I'm an auto and I'm doing it for experience and fun...if I wanted a track car I'd swap in an ecotec no questions asked. The only thing I got from ebay was the manifold. It's cast iron, heavy as hell, but it looks like it'll hold. Also, what kind of turbo specs are you looking to run with i.e. inlet and exhaust A/R..too small and your gonna over-spool and ruin the turbo, where as too big and you'll lag like a bad connection in a halo game. As for the mileage, look into rebuild i.e. head work, forged pistons, rods. I know if you plan on turbo'ing a 2200 best thing to do is head work....a nice port and polish and they'll love the boost. Thats by far our biggest restriction for our motors. If you stick the the 2200, there are some people in the performance forum that can help you build your 2200. Look for notec and madjack, I think that's two of em that have 2200 and know TONS about them...i've read some of their stuff and that is how I've learned so much about the 2200 and what to do.

I see a cool-air intake
It's got a NOS-fogger system and a T-4 turbo
I see an A.I.C. controller
It has direct port nitrous injection
Yeah, a stand-alone fuel management system
...Not a bad way to spend $10,000
HEY ECOCLEAN LOL I SAW UR PIC U WERE AT THE TEXAS HEATWAVE IN SAN ANTONIO......LIKE A YR AND A HALF AGO UR RIGHT IS DID RIGHT BRO MAD PROPS.......MINE WAS THE OTHER CAVY THERE WITH NEXT LEVEL........CARBON HOOD ,GRAPHIC,KIT, IS ALRIGHT I PLACED THIRD

lol I appreciate the compliment. SO going off what you have added to this conversation. I would look into building your engine and seting it up for turbo. then when you put the turbo on you will be much happier.
But here is a tip. That engine is not the only thing that has been abused for 129,000 miles. Always remember power flow and if the components in that flow can handle it. i.e. tranny, axles, suspension, brakes

ok here is the first line of thinking that should change.....Engine performance 101...when building an engine for power things WILL brake!!! so saying your have over 100k on the engine and your worried about how long itll last is really irrelavent ..even if it had 100 miles on it things can still brake and ususally do unless you build EVERYTHING to be stronger..so of course the best route is always to rebuild the engine and entire drivetrain to handle what ever power your planning for it ..but that doesnt always happen, usually cus of money...
^^^^^ what he said! Also bout the ebay kit, pictures can be decieving, hence why alot of people dont trust ebay, BUT if you think it's worth it then buying it is all up to you. .42 compressor and .48 inlet seems kind of small, especially the compressor....correct me if Im wrong, but isn't is better to have a slightly bigger or juss plain bigger size on the compressor?

ok pretty much i have a 1000 to spend as of right now ...........what would u buy to improve the performance .........or stregthen the car? and say if i were to buy it i know alot of people that could put it on but about how much would a shop charge anyone know?
dono bout shops, might have to shop around. If you know people that can help DIY then DIY, thing is you also have to have someone around that knows how to tune with HPTuners. As for the 1g, it's between turbo and mild head work. 1)turbo would bring most power to the car 2)turbo is great but with our heads and the way it flows...not much of an awesome gain unless you work on the head. Pretty much the biggest "killer" for the 2200 is the head flow. Open it up a bit and you'll see a nice gain especially with the turbo. oversize valves, mild P&P job...but make sure you have a flow bench when you do the head work, valve springs, 3 angle valve job. Like I said look up ohv notec, madjack, and there was someone else but i 4got but those two will give you tons of info for building your head and anything about the old 2.2 and 2200
