hey guys i am in the planning process of starting off an aunnual jbody show for central texas and i need to know who would be interested. The location would probably be near Temple texas..there is a drag strip there..this would also make the show midway between dallas and SA so it would be a neutral point..
This would be a show and race since there is a track available..awards would be given..for show and fastest track times.
and of course Js from all of texas would be welcome..if all goes thru this show would be planned for sometime in late september.
Who all would like to attend something like this and possible make it a yearly thing.
LOL you know i was talking to ben about the same thing a few days ago. The reason being is that i see all of JBOM and other states holding anual meets/shows and yet the BIGGEST state other then cali cant seem to do anything. Temple would be fine i was thinkin about maybe doing it in say a different city every other year.
Not just j's but more along the lines of a gm sport compact show/race, and people from other states would be more then welcome to come down for the show/race. It would be sort of our on mini bash but with all gm small cars/trucks.
This would be kick ass and im sure everyone would agree its been a long time coming
Fo sho'! I believe the last Texas jbody meet was a few years back; possibly in 2002. I had fun, not to mention Josh(bigJdubb) organized it mostly on his own.
i need to know interest in this show from the houston area..so let me know.. im gonna be incontact with the track over the next couple weeks to get the best date..all this would really be is a BIG meet on a normal test and tune day..so there would be other cars there..i also plan on giving trophys for this show and making it an annual thing
I guess great JBodies minds think alike. I was going to ask you something about that at the meet this past Tuesday. Texas Heatwave is OK but there something missing? I have not seen a car show that the sport compact is in the main spotlight or center stage. I think it can be pull off and who knows. The show could be bigger than the The Republic Of Texas Biker Rally (ROT Biker Rally). Then it will the J-Bodies turn to parade through the streets to the downtown area on Congress where the real party begins.I know work is keeping me busy. But no work, no money, no playtime on the cav.. I will help you whatever I can. I will be on your committee. Just remember, this is how the ROT rally got started about 13 years ago.
Would this be open to other states as well, have an annual texas show but other are more then welcome to attend right. I mean the more the merrior. I think the areas presidents should all get together in a chat to dicuss this to get this really going. Would other gms be alowed to show as well ?

i think it should just b j's hence the title. texas j-show. if we let other gm compacts in its just gonna be like every other show. i dunno. thats my opinion. we got plenty of j's around to make it a big show still. and ii like the idea of outer states being invited too.

of course any j from any state will be welcome..but all trophys will say "TEXAS J" on them ..also i will only be inviting JBODIES while all cars are welcome i will not be handing out awards or judging them..while SOME of the Jbody clubs have opened their doors to other GM compacts not everyone has and in alot of cases other GM compact cars have their own clubs and im not contacting all of them..this also kind of defeats the purpose of the jbash..we have a Jshow because we are all fans of the Jplatform..

anyway..i need talk to all the club organizers in the area (TEXAS) so please add my AIM or YAHOO name to your messenger cus i plan on having an online closed room meeting with you..this way i can cater to any special needs any certain clubs have and plan things more thuroughly

temple is north of austin..i think about 45 minutes north..it should be ABOUT a 1.5-2 hour drive from SA and a 2-2.5 hour drive from dallas..there is no track in austin so i didnt even bother looking for an area around here since i thought a track would be more suitable
so about when were you guys going to plan the dates for this show.

SURE iT WOULD BE FUN TO ORGANIZE SOMETHING LIKE THIS. wE NEED TO MAKE IT A sATURDAY AND SUNDAY MAYBE IF WE CAN MAKE IT A TWO DAY THING. i COULD TALK TO GM ABOUT HOSTING THE EVENT MAYBE. IN OTHER WORDS RENT THE TRACK OUT FOR THAT WEEKEND FOR US IN RETURN GIVE THEM EXCLUSSIVE RIGHTS TO ALL MERCHANDISE VENDORS AND SALES. WE WOULD HAVE TO SHOW THEM A SUBSTANTIAL NUMBER OF PARTICAPANTS FOR THIS EVENT THOUGH. wHICH i THINK WE CAN DO.
