I am looking for a piece of around 32 x 36 inch piece of flat metal in the area as i can weld it in the trunk area to get rid of my spare tire hole. I have found no where at all that sells large pieces. Doesnt need to be great condition! Just needs to be FLAT!

I have found a few places that have aluminum pieces, but was told that it wouldnt weld in as easy as just plain metal.
go to body shops and ask.. i kno at my friends body shop in austin i saw a lot of scrap doors and panels. sometimes they throw some away cuz they have too much.

Ace hardware sells mild steel in smaller sizes. I think they have a 3 ft by 3 ft section.

I had tried ACE, Home Depot, Lowes and even a few smaller places. I finally just came across a place in Garland today called Garland Metals and they are freakin HUGE! Cheap as hell too! Thanks guys!

just an F.Y.I aluminum will not weld tell metal. you can only weld metal to metal or aluminum to aluminum.

ya i kinda figured that out after doin a lil research so ill probably bolt it down really good.. but it might have ben done once i think cuz if i remember right that eclipse in fast and the furious did it

Hey. You should look up some sheet metal shops, or a/c contractors in your local phone book. Ask them to sell you some scrap or even give it to you for free. I work in a metal shop here in Houston and we fill dumpsters with scrap metal. 18 gauge sheet metal should work fine for you.
