she's getting a new heart

now that we know for sure i can let yall know the latest:

friday 1-12-07 dar was heading home with the big storms that were downpouring the metroplex in front of the major coldfront. she got caught on story heading home where it was starting to flood. with no one letting her over she was stuck and the engine flooded out. she was sitting there in the water about an hour before i got there. everyone was honking at her and trucks were going around here on the right side which is a sidewalk. by the time i got there to push here out of the way 2 others had stopped to help move her.

the water was halfway up the rimes (just below the door)and with it flooded the traffic on the other side was splashing it up higher. obviously the exhaust was sitting under water and the front with it being lowered and a body kit, was pushing the water over the headlights and they were fogged out. there was another car flooded out futher south from her. i called 911 to let them know there were 2 cars flooded out on story and traffic was at a standstill with one point the water was just above the bottom of the door of some cars.

with the cold air intake we knew the odds of the engine taking in water was 100%. we tried checking some other things but after a week of trying(on a side street were we pushed it) i called the insurance company. we finally got it towed to Frank Para. the deductable is $50 to cover the cost of replacing the engine with a used one that has about 32,000 miles. the engine has just under 60,000 miles on it now. start farm will cover the engine for 1 year after install. the total ending up being $2414.70 less my $50 deductable.

with the pressure from the water pushing on the front body kit, the damage on it was intensified. the few good stong contact points are now weak. luckly i have a new full body kit in the garage. for those that didnt know dar was rear-ended a couple of months ago. with the $ from their insurance i threw in the difference to get a whle new body kit about. jason at A+ worked a good deal with me.

old yeller has had some rough points these last few months. the balt is doing fine though. im not doing much to it at all. id like to get the fire closer to a finished point. air, kit/fender installed and painted. then its just retouching a some points on the interior.

later yall,

they got the engine at the shop the other day. they should start on it tue and hope to have it done by fridayish. i prolly have to go ahead and install the new front kit since the old one doesnt have any strong points anymore. the water pressure from the flood water meesed up what was left.

went by the shop today. he's about ready to put the new heart in. the engine ended up having 20,000 miles not 32,000!!!! he said the yard they got it from checks the compression to make sure its a good engine before they sell it. almost wish i had a header. this would be the best time to get it installed while the engine is out. should have the car by the weekend.

well we got her home.

today me and JD switched the front and rear back to stock for now. i still have the new kit in the box but dont want to put it on till its time, paint and all. it'll be mostly stock till i can get air ride so the front wont have a chance to get messed up as much. so she'll look stock for a good while.
