Summer meets
Wednesday, January 31, 2007 12:58 AM
Hey yall, I'm new to the forum, and from the Houston area. I'm currently stationed up in Bossier City/Shreveport LA area at the Air Force base here. I will be comin home on leave for a couple weeks in July before I deploy in Aug/Sept timeframe, and was surprised to find so many people from the Houston area on here. I would be interested in coming to a couple of meets to browse around and see what all can be done with the J body, this is a new venturing for me, all my experience has been in trucks, draggers and off-road vehicles. By the time I get to town in the summer I'll have intake, full exhaust, sway bars, strut tower braces, and engine mounts done. I don't want to go as far as boosting the car, I'm lookin to drive this one to at least the end of my first enlistment. I'm basically lookin to talk to, meet and greet, and shoot the s**t with others who have more experience with the J-bodys so I can learn and get inspiration for where I will take this car. Interior painting, exterior body work, and mild performance is what I'm shootin for. Something subtle but still gets a few nods is what I'd be shootin for on this particular project. Anyway, hey again, hope to meet up with some people from here sometime in the future and see what comes of this project. Oh, just out of curiousity, anyone from the Tomball/Magnolia area?

I'm from Spring. If my car is running and I'm in town, I'll make it to whatever meets I can.

pretty good number of folks in the houston area these days! you should have no issue tracking a few down for a get together.

its a nice sleeper. its one of the cavy statonwagons that him and a couple of others boosted!!!!! its great!

the houston j's are growing and theres also alot in the san anton/austin area. a couple of clubs have formed even. as you know the cobalt took the cav spot so alot of the meets can be the j's and d's meeting up. im one of the j's that also got a cobalt, so a few are getting rid of the j and getting the cobalt .

I think the Houston J's used to be the largest Texas Group, but slowly started fading away. We're due for a nice growth spurt though.

I think it would be great to meet people from the area, I know for the next few years I may only get in town for a few weeks out of them, but whe I do come home it'd be nice to take a day or two and meet up, cruise around, shoot the s**t and what not. I got a couple friends with J's in the area that would be interested in starting to do more work on them, so I'll have to give them a ring and see what they say. Yall take it easy, I'll keep in touch and let ya know when I'll be in town next.
