Hey guys, I'll be travelling through Houston in about 10 days, and I was wondering if you could tell me what area's are okay to stay a night in, or what one's to stay away from. I will be heading to Bush International, so if possible, I'd like to stay pretty close to that (at least within 30 minutes).
I know nothing about the Houston area, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Something not too sleezy, though, I'm coming along, too, and I dont want to worry about the local floozies.
Rest In Peace, Saint.
He's your god, they're your rules, YOU burn in hell!!
lol then stay out of houston lol j/k
hit up ESB
lol
nm..he doesnt like vistors
and if your ride is low ...raise it ...
b/c houston st.s suck!
Doin it Texas Style...
It's not dropped. May be a bit weighted down, but won't be that bad
If there's nothing around IAH, how about something resonable close that is to the east of Houston off of I-10?
Humble isn't too far from there off 45 iirc and is conveniently located to bush and down town...
i think...lol
Doin it Texas Style...
ozzie...hush. damn sa tryin to educate ppl on other cities. haha. Bush Airport is close to humble and close to where i stay. if you wanna stay close to the airport, then your ok cuz NS Houston > SS Houston. Your best bet is to stay on the NW side of town. Theres alot to do but if you wanna go downtown to party, it'll be about a 15-20 drive depending on traffic.
And about E of I-10....yea...about that (GHETTO!) gl though.
If you think Houston streets suck you should go to Pasadena, it's worse over there.
Not likely to be partying that night. We'll be leaving Tampa around 5am and driving straight to the Houston area. I'm just looking for a nice, safe hotel to stay for a night (and probably another night a few days later),
Anyone care to suggest somewhere on here (preferably North Side) that would be ok?
I'll be heading to I-10/610 from IAH Tuesday morning so tips on avoiding traffic, if even possible, would be helpful.
IMO the best way to get to Bush IAH is take I-10 West until you get to Beltway 8. Then Exit north on the beltway. Then go around the Beltway until you hit the airport exit which is J.F.K. Blvd., and you are going to see a lot of Hotels in that area which you get on J.F.K. Blvd. Also you should avoid a lot of traffic by going that way to the airport and by going the opposite way home also. I hope that helps some.
Awesome. Thanks Mike. I'll look into it.
I was just worried b/c I read one review of a hotel claiming the person left their car out in front of the hotel office window. When he came out in the morning, the car had been broken into and stripped of all his stuff. While I wont have anything very valuable with me, I don't really have the time to deal with broken windows and such. I know a lot of Katrina misfits made their way to Houston, so I wanted to take some caution where I stayed.
That came specifically from
this. I'd take caution with an unfamiliar area no matter what.
Texas rocks! Wireless internet at the rest stops! Woot!!!
yup yup we do it big in texas , glad you like it
You didn't get caught in that rain in Houston yesterday did you? It got pretty bad with flooding over here.
i heard that it was raining pretty bad over there, i immediately thought of -ESB- aka Funbags... I sure do hope he okay
Yes I did get caught in the rain. Basically once I hit the beltway, it poured. It cleared up after getting on 59 though.
On the way back we took 59 straight through Houston. Nice cluster-@!#$ of roads you have there!
Had a pretty good time in Corpus. The area is beautiful, and you can't help but love the $2.39 gas prices! OK... time to get back to Tampa ish. Thanks for all the help guys.
If you haven't left- You probably won't go that way but just in case don't go down 610 the West loop to I-10 take 59 to I-10, there's traffic headaches in that area.
I'm actually already back in Tampa. We got home at 7:00 this morning.
We drove through downtown Houston on 59 Thursday night around 9:30. There wasn't much traffic, well not that 5 lanes couldnt take care of. Ended up staying at the Sleep Inn on JFK Blvd. and left yesterday around noon. It was a long day, and a long drive. Thanks for the help though.
