Guys let me take this one. Speaking from my pesonal experience I have gotten pulled over three times. Some times they ticket it for you and sometimes they don't But is A law. The only time I got ticketed for it was cause I was speedingand the cop wanted to do a little more damage. But I have more or less been just told that I need to have one.
So to solve this issue I am in the process of making a retractable front plate thst will hide away in the bumper and reveal it self only after the cop has asked me. how come you dont have a plate in the front.
today had to be one of the worst days evar
read up on sajbody.org/forums...
::sigh::
bottom line after being pulled over 2x in 1 day...you DO need a front license plate..enough said

alot in the club have them in the window. depending on the cops mood or how late it is they MAY use it to pull you over and check ya out. the cop told me its suppose to be on the front most part of the car. i didnt get a ticket, he didnt notice it in the window when he saw me on the highway and pulled me over for not having a plate. i went to the police station to ask about it being in the window they said its suppose to be on the front most part of the car. i asked about vetts not having any on the front at all and they were like ummm well ummm they are suppose to have them. so IT IS THE LAW in texas to have front plates. you can get by with them in the window just depending on the cop'rs. ive been bothered the one time in 3 years about it being in the window.
I just got pulled over today for having no front plate myself. So put one on so you don't have to worry about it.

texas law does state you have to have a front plate if you want me to look it up i can find the article number on that law and chapter in the book from the academy. my only recomendation for your bumber is to stick it on that plastic piece that comes down from the mouth at the front that way its not that ..in better ways stupid looking. or stick it in the windshield like i will sooner or later.
Hey Gabe, did you ever look up anything on neon's?
haven't found anything on neons i can't find any of the new laws. i did ask a dallas constable though and he said they are not illegal becuase they are under the car. as long as you cannot see the bulbs. basically what we all have said. he also said it was probably some lonesome rural cop who had nothing else better to do.
hay JD i talked to a THP frind of mine and he said that the law is that as long as the sorce of the light cant be seen thay are legal... but some citys have laws about runnin red or blue lights b/c thay r emergince colors.... sorry cant spell real good...
slownlow is the way to go...
theres a spell check option

The law states the license plate has to be displayed to the frontmost part of the vehicle. That is why the windshield is not ok.
Neons under the car are fine as long as none of the bulb can be seen at all and that they do not flash. Previous law stated it couldnt be blue or red but it had been revised to just not being able to see the bulb or flashing while wehicle is in forward movement.
i went through the police academy in 2005 and the instructors still said you needed it.
well
i got pulled over AGAIN last nite..
this time b/c i didnt have the plates on the front most part of my car
i told him i was just in jail on the 30th and then pulled over again that same day after i got out (yes...2x in 1 day)
and he let me off w/a warning...
so thats 3 times in 1 weeks time that i get pulled over and 2 of 3 cops say..its a do it..

by law your supposed to have a front licence plate but when a cop pulls me over for it, i ask him why dont he harrass the corvettes about it. knowing that he wont give me an answer, i'll tell him that if he gives me a ticket i'll fight it for discrimination. it's gotten me out of a ticket plently of times to the point now where when they see me, they just let me go. haha. i think all the local cops in my area have pulled me over. hahaha
thats very true...
technically its supposed to be on the front most part of the car..
i told the cop last nite.."i aint gonna drill into a fiberglass bumper for a plate.."
he said i could zip tie it like most people do
Doin it Texas Style...
My plan was to attach 4 keychains of this type to the mesh grill before I head back to Texas, so that I don't get any @!#$ for it:
Remember: Not this actual keychain, but this type.

oh yeah.....actually attach the other end to the license plate.....
that way I don't have to worry about scratching the grill when it comes time to cut off the zip ties.

ive heard its passes and heard it didnt . ton-e posted it did and awhile back in october i think someone posted it didnt pass. and cops still pull you over mostly to haress you but sometimes a ticket. if the cops dont knnow thenm they will still keep an eye for it.
I am buy that book or printing that page and keeping it in the car thanks toni
that book is 38 bucks at eastfield college and comes with any new laws recently passed in another book.
Sorry, but I hope Ton-E didnt get any hopes up. This law was passed yes.......but a few of the items on the admendment were pulled before the vote. The license plate to the frontmost part of the vehicle was one of those items. This new law is not in any law book you will find in print. I work at a law office part time and we get calls like this on a daily basis. The plate is still required in Texas to be on the frontmost part of the vehicle. Which is on or attached somehow to the front bumper. It is also a fix it ticket and can be cleared if taken to court within a certain timeframe.
