opening race track

i am considering building a race track in north dallas area, what are some things that might be interesting to everyone? any suggestions would be helpful. ideas i currently have include a 1/8 mile drag strip, dyno room, speed shop with nitrous refill station, auto-x track, plus the usual snack shop, restrooms, and bleachers.

To be honest DFW has more then enough 1/8th mile tracks Yellow belly, Redline, Kdale, (soon to be one just east of Crandall) and cedar creek to name a few. What it really needs is another 1/4 mile track that is OPEN! Ennis rarely runs street nights anymore and is closed ALOT and is also a far drive for those coming from ft. worth and north Dallas.

A good open place to autox, drift, etc. In the north Dallas area would go over very well. Currently the biggest lot is near Mineral Wells (east of ft. worth) which is just too long of a drive for most people in Dallas to go to unless they are really dedicated to the hobby. TMS does have a good sized lot but as of late it has been closed, (last I heard the "bus lot"), other then that most of the other lots for autox and similar events are much smaller in comparison. (in both speeds, time on course, and size of course) A big smooth lot around North Dallas could easily gather good size crowds very often!

if you build it, buy a bunch of surrounding land so a few years a housing community doesnt roll in near by and complain then problems arise. like wanting you to stop everything by 10,11 midnight. have a budget for a couple of officers.

the area that i am looking at is up in lewisville where there is not much of anything like that around.i have taken in to consideration the thought of purchasing the surrounding areas for noise reasons. the quarter mile ideas sounds good. i thought about it but was not sure. i know a lot of people like drifting and i wonder if i could get some shows or something out there to draw attention. thanks for the feedback and keep the ideas flowing.

Denton already has an 1/8th mile. So, if you are going to build a track in Lewisville, I suggest a quarter mile track.

Exactly Denton Dragway is very close to there. DFW badly needs another 1/4 mile track if you where to just open a 1/8th mile it is going to be hard to draw a crowd unless your track prep is very good and you have some good events going.

Btw the one opening in crandall will start off a 1/8th mile but is supposed to become a 1/4 mile shortly after it is open. (if the city of crandall stops busting the owners balls)

If you could setup a good open area. You could easily draw crowds for autox, drifting, carting, motorcycle training/riding. (would need to be a very clean surface for motorcycles thou)

i have just been very fortunate in all my financial aspects and have a large list of very generous contributors. good idea on the motorcycle training course. possibly lining toward quarter mile idea. how about a large oval? thanks all.

Track plans are going good, but very slow. That is about what i expected. We have our eye on a plot of land it is in lewisville near 121 and 35. I have been talking with several groups all over the place about ideas and surprisingly a large interest has been shown in either a 1/4 or 1/2 mile oval for legends car races, with a road course infield, and possibly a 1/8 mile strip we will let that run for a while and if all goes well expand it to a 1/4 mile. And sorry Diablita i have never considered a mistress, we just celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary and i couldn't be happier. unless.....
