they are legal but i have to tell u.. cops are ass holes when u get stopped for speeding and they see the radar detector.. the best way not to get stopped is to drive the speed limit.

mine was going off when the cop was talkin to me, but he didn't say anything.
The only time i had problem was on a military base (Ft Bliss). The mp just told me to take it down

i dont know a whole lot about them. i dont recommend the cordless ones unless you really dont want the wires, and USUALLY the more you pay the longer the range for it to pick up the singal, and of corse namebrand.
I'd say H-E-B but we dont have any there, go ebay or a pawn shop
I've used several and for the function/range/etc the Valentine one is definately worth it's 399.00 sticker price. I don't personally own one, but borrow a friends every time I make a long trip.

The V1 is what my friend (Chris) has. We went on a road trip yesterday to Houston. And his V1 went off I Bull@!#$ you not 3 miles before we got to the cop. The range on them is great!
