autolite plugs???
Thursday, January 05, 2006 7:33 AM
I changed my spark plugs the other day. I put some autolite 104's in my 98 cavalier 2.2 and now it seems to have a slight miss. The spark plug wires are brand new too.. Has anyone ever had any problems with autolite plugs.. Should I use a different brand? I am not looking for performance, just want to get rid of the miss and get the best MPG i can get

Autolites are great.............FOR FORDS !! Auotlites make Motorcraft plugs for Fords. They make them to fit other cars too but they are mostly a Ford plug just like AC Delco
makes plugs that fit in Ford but they are mostly a GM plug.

I'd stick to AC platinums. Just my opinion.

It's possible you got a bad batch.
I use AC Delcos in GM vehicles. I've used Autolites in Chrysler Products and never had problems. Double check all your wires are connected well, too.

Hey,

Who makes AC Platinums? I have never had a problem with Bosch Platinums, and for the $15 a piece for the AC platinums, I think I will stay with Bosch.

Thanks,

Will

Hey,

The only plugs not made by AC delco are the iridiums. From what I have been told they are made by NGK!!

Take care,

WIll

i put bosch plat+4's in my 03 fire and its never ran better. i also went from maybe 200 miles a tank to around 350 a tank. i have a very heavy right foot. also the plugs were the only thing i changed. still has the stock boots and i changed the fuel filter about 20,000 miles ago. it has a k&n filter in the stock box, but that has been in the car for a year now. i go to the same gas station everytime.

Hey,

Thanks for the input here. I am gonna try Bosch in my Sunfire. I have run them in the past on other vehicles with success. Can''t find the AC Platinums for less than $14 a piece up here, and will not run iridiums since I do not like NGK!!

Thanks,

Will

ive had a set of ngk's break, and almost go into my motor, and i had an ac delco plug break and take out a valve, the head and my exhaust. cost me a motor. although i mrunning the reccomended gm supercharger plugs now for my turbo 2.4 and they seem to be fine. i change them when i change the oil, wlel i used to because the car ran so rich it fouled them up but ill see how it reacts to them this year
