cigarette lighter out

well today i got a new radar detector, and went to plug it in and i got no response from the detector. A while ago i had neons that were hooked up to my cigarette lighter and they worked fine. It seems like the lighter is just burnt out or something but i dont know for sure so im asking for some help. I was just wondering if there is a simple fix to this. thanks for all the help.........

there's a 10 amp fuse for the cigarette lighter/power outlet in the fuse block. You probably blew the fuse.

Lifes too short to drink cheap beer.

i had the same problem in my 02 cavy. but i broke the dc adapter for my radar detector when i plugged it into the cigarette lighter. i think i need to check my fuse too.

so i just ran the wire down for my new radar detector to the one on the side of the console. the wire snakes nicely in the crack of the dash and along side the radio.

good luck. off to get my windows tinted finally. merry xmas to me.

Yeah I tried my outlet for the first time on xmas day and found it wouldn't work. Turns out my fuse was blown.

Open up the door, drivers side of the dash, look at the back of the cover and it should tell you. Pull out the fuse and see if its blown. If it is take it to a local car part store and tell them you need a new one. Put the new one in and walk away.

even better way to check if it's the fuse.... hit the horn, they run off the same line if the horn works the fuse is good, if it don't work the fuse is bad

also i had this problem for a long time and everytime i would put a new fuse in i would blow it, turned out i had a bad wire so i just ran a new one from the motor took my lighter out put a toggle switch in for my interior lights my horn works now and went to wal-mart and got a new outlet piece and bolted it onto the side of my consol to use for phone charger and what not. don't need the cigg lighter cause i have BIC lighter hahahah but that may be your problem also

all in all it cost me like $15 to get the new outlet, the wire needed, and the 50 fuses i used before i decided to do this
