well, i'm rebuilting my engine (97 2.4L) and putting the 086 head with HO cams and was wondering if i get a 2.3L gasket set, which are gonna fit to my 2.4L? i mean if the timing chain housing gasket the same, water pump, oil pan.... things like that?
or i'm better of buying a 2.4l set and buy the 2.3l one apart or just get every gasket apart without buing a kit???

you man need a lil trimmin on the headgasket set, where the waterjackets are.
the other gaskets should be the same.
for the 2.3
or the 2.4
you really only need the 2.e intake and exhaust gaskets..then use the rest from a 2.4
no trimming is needed on the head gasket! I'm using a 2.4 head gasket, not a 2.3l

i was wondering if i buy a 2.3 gasket set will any other 2.3 gasket will fit the 2.4 parts like the oil pan, water pump? are these the same from 2.3 to 2.4?

the 2.3 oil pand gasket doesn't fit with the 2.4 pan. They're different. No gasket for the oil pump on the 2.3.

My bad about the oil pump. Use the 2.4 gasket for the timming chain housing and cover.

if you are using a 2.3 head the 086 on a 2.4 you need to make the water passage hoels bigger on the 2.4 gasket. or else it will overheat ask sunfightergt i think he did it.
yeah, thats what i thought! i have the cometic head gasket N/A version and the holes are sooooooo tiny.... how big should i do them? anyone knows?
