ok i cant get the scanner i bought to work on my car. i have tried every thing i can think of but it just dousnt recognize the computer it just reads error i cant figure it out any else every have this problem
It helps to tell us brand and make of your car and scanner. Did you get the right scanner? Some are make specific.
All you need is an ODB II scanner. Your performance mods aren't going to throw a code according to your registry. Do you even have a check engine light on? How the hell do I know why it doesn't work?? Also, the English language does have punctuation to make threads likes yours readable.
We are trying to help you out, so you help us out.

yes its a obd II sanner and i have a 1998 z24 i dont no why but its just not responding when i plug it in and yes i have a check engine light. Ever since my ho intake swap from the egr so i dont no if it coused any more codes to be thrown or not its almost as if the plug under the dash dousnt recognize it.
The hole reason im asking this question couse my car is running like @!#$ and it jerks really bad and makes a thud noise when i hit the gas hard. I no its not the mounts i took it to a shop and they tried the obd II plug and said it didnt work so im trying to figure it out on my own
Generally you would plug in the scanner, turn key to run position, press read on the scanner, there ya go.
ok i no how to use the thing dont just figure i did wrong i did it right i have done it before but tis not reading i hate when people asume things before thinking the problem isnt the scanner its my car its being recognized i just used it on my other car and it worked fine.
well you didnt tell us that. Explain the whole situation when you ask something.

Does the scanner even power up?
Most quicky scanners use power from the plug to operate, and alot of the time, I find someone had already done something that blew the fuse.

no the scanner works just dousnt act like tis plug into anything my plug is not working
Does the scanner work on another car? I know I have issues sometimes when I scan a car, it usually means 80 bucks to the mechanic down the street.

And what you are describing sounds like a misfire. Or a vacuum leak, or 1000000 different other things! Try a tune-up. Could be bad plugs.

I know ours and the ones we sell at the store use a battery inside the scanner for power.
Good luck on it. Keep us posted!
