Hey all,
My '95 Z24 2.3 auto has an erratic idle when the car is cold. The engine RPM goes up and down, and even almost stalls, even when I'm in gear! When I hit the accelerator hard, it will bog for a second and then accelerate with no problems. This happens even when the engine is warm, but when it has been turned off for about 15 minutes or so.
Anyone have any ideas? This seems to have started just after I changed my water pump...

I notice the same thing in a lot of automatic cars but not after they warm up. how up to maintenence is the car?
I'd check the above sensors though.
my cavalier does this same thing on a small scale. sometimes it even stalls while warming up. when I first start it the engine idles at 1500 then slowly works down to about 900 (or like i said, sometimes it stalls). Everything runs GREAT and it's a freshly rebuilt engine so I doubt it's a real problem. Once mine is warmed up it runs like a raped ape though :-)
